German Restaurant Smile Aug 10, 2012

Categories : Western variety | German | Restaurant | Pizza/Pasta

Munchen Bierhaus is a German restaurant in Uptown Penang. Actually we going to celebrate a friend's birthday in another restaurant but the chief told us that her restaurant will be close on that weekend because she going to come here to help and she recommend we come here. So we just come here to celebrate our friend's birthday, as we also never try German food, so this is a new experience for us too

The German pork knuckle, seriously, tastes pretty close to traditional roast pork according to my friend. The skin is very crunchy seem like it had been fried. It was pretty good! My entire friend said that the pork knuckle is so delicious but for me I not really like this dish. The pork knuckle is seem like got a kind of pork smell and kinda of oily plus the meat is like too white so I cannot accept it, but only me that cannot accept this food among my friend, all of them are so happy with the knuckle, two of my friend still using their hand to eat.

This is the side dish of the pork knuckle, it come along with the pork knuckle. This is potato that cut into wedges shape. It is common fried wedges, with not crunchy skin but still a good side dish.

Vegetarian food Smile Aug 05, 2012

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Vegetarian

Golden Hill vegetarian restaurant, as you can see from the title, it’s a pure vegetarian restaurant, located beside Megamall Butterworth. The shop is quite hiding, so if you didn’t look carefully, probably you will miss it.
The restaurants not only provide food, it also got sell some instant packages vege food.

Green curry fish, one of our favorite veggie foods.
But the green curry at here is not as nice as the one we eat at Zhu yuan, but it still not bad cause they got put a lot of spice for seasoning. The fish is not too dry, some of the veggie fish is fried too long and it will make it too dry and hard to eat, but here the fish is just fine.

This dish so-call fried three mushroom (direct translate from 炒三菇), it’s a famous dish in Genting and I like it so much, so when I found here got this dish, immediately I order it. It contains different kind of mushroom, like the mushroom from tin, the black color mushroom, and then fried with the Chinese cabbage, carrot, small corn. The taste of this dish at here is salty >”<, it seem like the chief had put a lot of salt or msg inside, anyway I still like to eat this dish, strongly recommend to those who like mushroom.

Last two day I had went again to eat at this restaurant. I had order curry fish head, the taste of the curry is very nice, it is very spicy, and it had nothing different with the real curry, I very recommend it cause before the food been served, I actually not feel want to order the curry but then I like the curry so much, it is very tasty to eat with the rice.

Another choice of Taiwan Milk Tea Smile Aug 05, 2012

Categories : Taiwanese | Café | Juices / Bubble Tea / Tea / Yogurt

Lohas tea house is a small shop that located in the Bukit Mertajam next to the Station 1. The main selling in the shop is Taiwan Bubble Tea, but it still got sell some snack, it is a simple yet a good place for friend to gossip at there >”<
There got a lot of choices in their Bubble tea, you can choose to drink milk tea, or you can choose fruit tea.

black brick tea milk@RM3.50
Normally bubble tea will have pearl inside, but this is a bit different, it got brick inside.
It is a thing like pearl but it make the design into brick, just like a pearl in square shape.
The drink is not bad, I like the drink at here, because it won’t too sweet and you can found the taste of milk tea inside. Though I don’t have the chance to drink a real Taiwan Bubble Tea but I think the drink at here is more nice compare to those ChaTime and others.

Green Tea Latte Pearl@RM4.00
This is my favourite before they change their recipe. This picture was taken when they are using their old recipe, you can see the layer of the green tea and the latte below, and when you drink, you just use you straw to mix up the ingredient, the taste is just lovely, you won’t feel too much of green tea or latte. But now they had change their recipe, you won’t see the layer of the color anymore, they will shake it before they pour into the cup, this is quite sad for me.

QQ MILK SHAKE, RM3.50
This one is a normal pearl inside, and the drink is normal milk tea

Another kind of celup - Lok Lok Smile Aug 05, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Chinese | Stall / Warung | Mixed rice

Lok Lok is a famous food in Penang, it is like Satay Celup from Melaka, put the stick of food you want to eat into a iron bowl that fill in water, and wait until it cooked. The difference is Melaka is using satay sauce to cook while penang is using pure water to cook.

It got variety of choice for you to choose, you can take whatever you want to eat, and choose whether you want to fried it or cook it with water, if you want to fried it, after you had done choosing, pass it to the stall owner, they will help you to fried and send to your table. And please beware, different food is come with different price, and they are differentiating with the color below the stick.

One of the special things at here is, they not only provide variety choices of food, but they also provide eight choices of sauce. I not really remember all the name of the sauce, but I know inside got satay sauce, laksa sauce, sambal udang, spring onion sauce, sweet sauce, chilli sauce, tom yam sauce and etc. The satay sauce is just like ordinary satay sauce, so do the sweet sauce and the chilli sauce, had nothing special about. But I like the sambal udang and spring onion sauce. Actually there got 2 stall selling the same food at there, but my brother bring me eat here at the first time, he said that the shrimp in the sambal udang sauce is bigger than the other stall. And the spring onion sauce is actually mix spring onion, chilli, and white vinegar, and this make the sauce sweet, sour and spicy, just so amazing.

The food is just like the steamboat food, got fishball, bird egg, sotong, siumai, meatball, vegetable, mushroom and so on. The food I like the most is a kind of mushroom that looks alike abalone, the taste is so nice!! Beside of meat, they also provide vegetable, the food they provide here is quite fresh.

This is the way to cook the food.

Here, they will provide you a small plate and a fork to eat, so you can mix the sauce you like into the small plate and then put the food you want to eat together with the sauce.

Tom Yam Mee Smile Aug 05, 2012
Categories : Chinese | Stall / Warung | Noodles

This is one of the famous Tom Yam Mee in Bukit Mertajam. This stall not only sells tom yam mee, but they also provide porridge. Here also got choice for you to choose, but unlike the stall in Rajauda they give you pick the ingredient, here you can choose either you want tom yam mee or tom yam porridge, sound interesting right?

The stall is located in front of a temple, and if you faced to the temple, then the stall is on your right hand side. It is handling by a family, a couple plus her daughter. The taste of the tom yam soup of this stall is different with other, they got put mint inside the soup, so when you eat the noodle, you can feel the taste of the mint, I not really like the mint, so got one time I order them not to put the mint, but the taste of the soup is totally different, the mint seem like make the soup taste nicer.

Fish Tom Yam Mee@RM5.50
Beside of choosing porridge or noodle, you still can choose either want fish or squid. If you want fish then it was only have fish as your ingredient. This is the big size of portion; the fish is quite a lot, and one thing I find am I always thought by cooking fish like, this the skin of the fish will make people “geli” when you eat it, but I didn’t feel “geli” when I eat the fish at here.

Tom Yam Mee@RM4.50
This is the normal portion and normal order of tom yam mee, it contain squid, fishball and shrimp. But I order them don’t put fishball, I don’t like the fishball at here, and I think they have give me more squid as a result ^^ the squid they put is a small size and they had already clean all the inside of the squid, even the shrimp also the same. The cooking method at here is quite different, they are cooking by per bowl, so your noodle will absorb the tomyam soup when they are cooking, this make the noodle taste better than the other stall that using water to cook the noodle. And the noodle won’t taste too soft, it is very spring when I eat it.
