Dinner OK Apr 10, 2014

This restaurant is with popular with the residents staying nearby and the family has advance booked a table with pre ordered dishes. But due to some mis-communication, dishes that are suppose to vegetarian, turns out to non vegetarian. So remember to double check with the staff before the food is cooked. By the way we start having our meal before the dinner crowd comes in. So in the end order another 3 vegetarian dishes.

We start with yu sheng where everyone has fun tossing the dishes together. When this dish is served, I am disappointed the staff does not pour the sauces and says the good luck words for this dish. It is expected for this to be done when this dish is served in Singapore, from zhi char stall to high class restaurant. In the olden days when the staff said the good luck word, she may receive tips in  form of red packet from customer. A thumb down for the service. Another thing which I noticed in this dish is the green and red coloured sides should be red and green coloured dye shredded ginger. Not sure why that are not served. Overall the taste does not seem tangy enough.

The dishes are served almost all at the same time which could barely fit in the big table. The tofu with pumpkin sauce is very unique, which has a sweet and tasty taste. The steamed chicken which looks rather dry, is quite tender and well flavoured. Overall the dishes are really good, but the service is a no-no.

Brunch on a Week Day OK Apr 10, 2014

The Restaurant

The Restaurant

The place serves French-European food in a upmarket shopping centre, but in a relaxed atmosphere. The modern looking restaurant is decorated in a greyish tone with mirrors covered the walls, which makes the restaurant looks bigger.There also is another sister outlet in Bangsar Shopping Centre. There is not much crowd during a weekday morning with the indoor dining area empty. Therefore we have the pick of our choice which is the sofa bench seat. The menu is quite limited with just a sheet. The staff serving us seems quite new as he is quite unsure which dishes are served during breakfast. Quite a bit of time is wasted when he goes to ask the kitchen.

Under the Breakfast section of the menu, which is available from 9am to 6pm, we order

"Big" Breakfast (RM25.00++)
Two farm fresh eggs cooked to order, chicken sausages, beef bacon, grilled tomato, baked beans, sauteed mushrooms and a slice of toast.
It is the breakfast with everything in it. I have selected scrambled egg for the dish. Huge serving and very filling. Mushroom is very tasty, as well as, the creamy scrambled egg. The tomato is quite nice and juicy with a touch of herbs on top.

Eggs Cooked To Order (RM17.00++)
served with sauteed mushrooms and grilled tomatoes with a choice of smoked salmon or turkey ham.
I have selected poached egg and smoked salmon for this dish. Feel that the poached egg is a bit too firm. There is no egg lava flowing out when we cut the egg.

Eggs Hemingway (RM19.00++)
Poached eggs served with smoked salmon and Hollandaise sauce on an English muffin.
The poached egg is too firm and the Hollandaise sauce is a bit too little. Serving is much smaller when compared to Eggs Cooked To Order.

Omelette (RM7.00++)
Three fresh eggs served with toast.
Add additional fillings of Sauteed Onions (RM4.00++) and Sauteed Mushrooms (RM5.00++). The omelette tastes quite fluffly and soft.

Croque Madame (RM25.00++)
This Croque Monsieur ( classic turkey ham and cheese sandwich) topped with an egg, sunny-side up.
This dish, from the Sandwich side of the menu, is served until 6pm in the menu. Looks quite but tastes not bad and quite filling too.

Caffe Latte (RM13.00++)
The coffee is made with Illy Coffee which is quite well known. Served with latte art on top.

Hot Choc by Bellagio (RM17.00++)
Served in a cute and expensive looking glass. Tastes quite thick and nice.

Order Earl Grey Tea (RM13.00++) and Raspberry Royal Tea (RM13.00++) which are served in loose leaves by pots and refillable with hot water. The selections of tea is from Fine Tea by Ronnefeldt. I like the Raspberry Royal Tea better as it has a king of fruity taste.

Overall the food is not bad. But the service has much to improve on. Food takes quite awhile to be served too. One has to be patient when dining in here, even when it is not crowded.

The outlet

The outlet

Located at the edge of the Tokyo Street area in the shopping mall, there is a small outlet which sells cute looking ice cream bars which is actually Japanese Popsicles.
The Display Shelf

The Display Shelf

Looking at the rows of different flavours standing in the display shelf, one can hardly make a choice of what to have.

Stracciatella (RM9.50)

Vanilla ice cream coated with white chocolate
Finally have the ice cream which looks like a bear paw. It tastes like vanilla ice cream coated with white chocolate outside, but lack of the vanilla pod taste.

Snack on the Go OK Apr 10, 2014

Once a upon Rotiboy has been very hot, with various outlets all over the places and even to Singapore. It is best well known for its coffee flavoured bun. I still can remember the queues in the outlets in those days. Those were the days. Now the trend has past, but one can find a few outlets around. The outlet at Cheras Leisure Mall is more like a cafe with dining area. Besides the original bun, there is also flavours. One of the flavour is the milk bun. Tastes sweet and milky.

Dessert Time OK Apr 10, 2014

The Restaurant

The Restaurant

The cafe is located in middle of row of shophouses, which is within walking distance from the Bangsar Village shopping malls. The place is quite packed and there is a quite a long queue snaking onto the road. It is considered one of hippest places for the youngs to relax with their friends. Dip ‘n dip started on the 15th of February 2009 in Syria and it has since expanded to other countries such as Canada and Malaysia. It is a cafe that specialized in chocolate desserts.
Dining Area

Dining Area

The cafe decorated in bright colours with red armchairs and black tables. At the counter, one will never miss the 3 big chocolate fountains, in white chocolate, milk chocolate and dark chocolate.
The Menu

The Menu

As our group of 8 is considered quite huge, it takes quite awhile before a table is ready for us. Actually 3 small round tables are joined together for us. The staffs are quite well trained. There is an incident where a handicapped beggar goes around the tables begging for help. The staffs quickly surround the person and show her out in a swift and quiet manner.

Triple Chocolate Crepe (RM17.00)

Folded crepe, filled with chocolate and topped with 3 kinds of chocolate (milk, dark and white).
Decorated very beautifully, one could not bear to eat it. Tastes great.

Fettuccini Crepe (RM29.00/ Original, RM24.50/ Small)

Crepe, cut fettuccini style, with 1 scoop of choice of ice cream, topped with choice of chocolate.
The staff puts out quite a show when pouring the chocolate sauce onto the crepe. Interesting act of showmanship. Combined with the thick chocolate sauce, the crepe tastes not bad. And in shredded form, one can eat more easily.

Brownies (RM11.00)

Chocolate heavy brownie, served with ice cream, topped with the cafe's amazing chocolate.
Feel that the brownies is a bit too dry and hard.

Chocolate Shot (RM11.00)

A shot glass filled with chocolate for one to sip, or simply eat with a spoon.
Very thick and sinful. But also very small serving, even when compared to the takeaway version. Not worth the price.

Cappuccino (RM12.00)

Feel that the coffee is not strong in flavour.

Green Mint Dipatte (RM16.00)

The cafe's specialty which is a drink between hot chocolate, latte, and mocha, and served in white. chocolate mint version.
Tastes quite sweet and thick for hot version, with a cooling mint aftertaste.

After Eight Milk Shake (RM16.00)

Mint flavour chocolate milk shake.
Also another quite sweet drink. Tastes quite thick and creamy.

Italian Soda (RM9.00)

Selected Blue Curacao version. There is also other flavours such as lemon, raspberry, cherry, strawberry, and peach. Just a sweet coloured soft drink.

Overall the desserts and drinks are not bad, but are all very highly overpriced.
