After such a great meal last night, I decide to visit this place again. As it is late afternoon, there is no much people in the restaurant.

3 cup Monkey Head Mushroom Set
As we have request this set to be vegetarian, the soup is replaced with another vegetable dish. Very well cooked and flavourful dish. As well as very filling too.

Honey Ice Cream Toast Box - Mango (RM6.90)
I like it that the serving is huge, especially the ice-cream. There is a lots of fresh mango cubes too. Very delicious. Yummy.

As we are one of the earliest customers, the place quite empty with just a couple of tables occupied. Walls of the restaurant is decorated with various newspaper cutout posters, as well as, its various signature dishes. Kim Lian Kee is quite well known for its Hokkien mee and is also known as the founder of Hokkien Mee in Kuala Lumpur, as it has been around for more than 60 years and has expanded to a few outlets in KL.

Hokkien Mee (RM9.90)

The noodle is full of “wok hei” and there is generous amount of crispy lard found in the dish. Very tasty and well braised.

Loh Mee (RM9.90)

Not easy to find white version loh mee. The version is well braised with the noodle very soft and smooth down the throat. Huge serving.

Claypot Loh Shu Fan (RM11.50)
Served in a hot claypot with a raw egg in the centre. Remember to mix as soon as possible to give the noodle an extra smooth texture.

Vegetarian Fried Rice (RM9.90)

Quite a huge serving and taste not bad.

Wan Tan Soup (RM6.50)

I am disappointed to find the wanton stuffed with fish paste, instead of the minced pork which I am more used to. The fish paste is too smooth and lack of texture.

Dumpling Soup (RM8.50)

Similar to the Wan Tan Soup, but worse as one can find a number of the wrappers falling off the dumplings. A show of lack of skills.

Deep Fried Bean Curd with Salad (RM6.50)

We are expecting plain deep fried bean curd, but it turns out to deep fried seafood beancurd. KInd of reminding me of the frozen seafood beancurd found in supermarket.

Kuk Po (RM6.00)

A pot of Pu-erh and Chrysanthemum tea, which is refillable and can be shared among all with small cups.

Overall the old school dishes are very tasty especially for the noodle dishes and are priced reasonably.

The Dining Area

The Dining Area

Restoran Oversea is quite a well known restaurant in Kuala Lumpur, which serves Chinese cuisine. Located just behind the busy shopping stretch of Lot 10 Shopping Centre and Fahrenheit88 (formerly KL Plaza). The restaurant occupied about 4 levels of a row of old shophouses. Walk into the restaurant, one is like step back into the past. The place is decorated as in traditional chinese restaurant with red carpet and wooden dining sets, with rather old looking wallpapers. As it is almost 2.30pm, one could see most of the staffs rushing to punch out.  As per normal in chinese restaurants, most are closed for business between the lunch and dinner dining periods. For a group of 6 people, we are seated comfortably at a table for 8. As it is still the chinese new year festive season, the dishes available are not the usual which I would prefer to have. The menu is also quite limited, with one third of the menu is solely on yu sheng (raw fish salad).

Stir-Fried Fresh Lily Bulb with Assorted Vegetables and Sliced Almond (RM18++)
A simple stir-fried which tastes light and crunchy.

Deep-Fried Spare Ribs (RM7++/ per piece)
Although deep-fried, the ribs is very meaty and juicy inside. Full of flavours.

Stir-Fried Assorted Vegetable with Macadamia Nuts (RM18++)
More heavy in sauce, but one can still taste the crunchiness of the snow pea.

Braised Mini Chicken with Chinese Herbs (RM38++)
Quite surprise with this dish, as we cannot make out if it is chicken or duck being used in the dish, especially the leg parts look quite long. Seems to be a mixture. Although the dish looks rather dry, the meat is actually quite juicy and well braised.

Overall service is not bad with tea filled regularly. Kid friendly cutlery is given for little JJ to use. Although it is past the closing time, we are not rushed to finish our meal. It is a place where the older generation would like it very much with its traditional food and setting.

Dessert OK Jan 04, 2016

I was hungry after spending the whole morning busy shopping at Isetan which was having New Year promotion. The outlet was quite cute looking with a silver color cow next to it, which children like to take photos sitting on it. Looking at the menu I decided to try the month special which was
Winter Moon (RM13.90).
Frozen yogurt, topped with soft cheesecake, homemade oatmeal biscuits, raspberry compote, and banana jam.
The frozen yogurt was slightly on on the sour side. I did not see any raspberry compote on the dessert. The dessert was topped with a yellow colored sauce which I assumed to be the banana jam but had a rather lemony taste.

Spending per head: Approximately RM13.9(下午茶)

At the top floor of the shopping mall, there is this popular chinese restaurant. The restaurant is quite huge and seats quite a big number of customers. There is a birthday party which occupied half of the restaurant when we arrive at the restaurant. Yet the restaurant is so big that we are not affected by the noise.

The rib is quite tender and well flavoured, although there is barely any sauce to go with the meat.

(RM4.24/ piece)
It does not look like bean curd to me when served. Its texture is as smooth as bean curd, but there is also a crunchy and meaty texture to it. I suspect there is water chestnut, crab meat and minced prawns added to the mixture. It is a very tasty dish.
Braised Duck and Braised Chicken

The staff recommends this dish which is only available on weekends. As we cannot decide between chicken and duck, we decide to have half serving of each. The dish takes quite a long while to be served. The meat is very tender, juicy and well flavoured.

Simple looking but tasty dish.
Steamed Egg With Salted Egg

It looks simple but is well cooked without being too soft or hard.

Overall the dishes are great. Service is not bad too, with tea refilled often. The only problem is the long waiting time between each dishes.
