Tuna salad Smile Dec 31, 2013

Tuna salad here at Watami is actually very good. I'm surprised that their tuna is quite fresh. The portions are huge and it's sprinkled with sesame seeds and doused in citrus sauce for a zesty zingy balance. Fish roe adds to the saltiness of the dish.

Classic malay food Smile Dec 31, 2013

Nasi putih with pucuk paku masak lemak, and ayam masak merah.

The pucuk paku masak lemak was crunchy and coconutty, and the ayam masak merah filled in the gap with sweetness.

Sirap bandung was huge and milky, and not overly sweet. Very refreshing.

Crispy snack Smile Dec 31, 2013

The original crispy breaded fried chicken in Malaysia. The chicken is flattened, then breaded and deep fried. The result is a crispy shell, which is a bit too thick, but the underlying meat is super tender. It's also very oily. The chilli powder gives it a lot of oomph but it's loaded with MSG.

Atas dining Smile Dec 31, 2013

Seafood soup had a lot of stuff inside, most notably large prawns and scallop. The seafood was fresh and really infused its flavours into the soup very well.

Steak was small but really juicy and soft. I guess that is to be expected of wagyu grade 9.

Craving for mee goreng Smile Dec 31, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Malaysian variety | Restaurant

We were craving for mee goreng after one long hard night at the gym (yeah, quite counter-productive, I know!). Didn't wanna stray too far from home, so we headed to Original Kayu at Aman Suria. Mee was cooked dry, which I like, and is spicy and salty enough. Chicken was a lot too, but quite expensive for the portion.
