Beef fried rice Cry Sep 23, 2012

Beef fried rice

With so much in the menu, one doesn't know how to choose. To be safe, I got the bee fried rice. From the looks of it, it didn't look too appetizing. And I was right. The whole thing is too dry. Not only that, the beef was tough. It's obviously overcooked. The whole combination is quite the disaster. However, I just had to finish it off to fill my stomach. So I won't be ordering this anymore. Maybe something else but since the first meal has been a disappointment, I'm not gonna put hope on the next one...

Satay @ SS4 Pasar Malam Cry Sep 23, 2012

Categories : Malay | Stall / Warung

Visited the pasar malam (night market) at SS4 recently for dinner and for some nice food.
Satay which tempted me

Satay which tempted me

One of the first stalls I visited was the satay stall. The seller was grilling some satays, and the aroma (along with some smoke) seemed tempting. The satay on display looked delicious also, as it was slightly burnt and crispy just like how I liked it.

It was sold for RM0.60 for each stick, which is a reasonable price for satay nowadays.
Tried one on the spot..

After buying around 10 sticks, I tried one immediately. To my disappointment, the satay was already cold. I kind of regretted buying it, although I could imagine that it would taste good if it was still warm.

I microwaved the remaining ones when I got home, but it just wouldn't taste the same from a freshly grilled one.

Prawn Dumpling Cry Sep 18, 2012

Prawn dumpling

Prawn dumpling

Seeing that the dim sum stall was quite new, we decided to try the prawn dumpling which is something we benchmark against. It wasn't very appetizing, to be frank. The skin was a bit thick and breaks easily. There were too much moist at the bottom which makes it slimy and breaks. The prawns weren't very fresh too. Overall it wasn't a very pleasing experience but it's still bearable.

Char kuey teow Cry Sep 18, 2012

Char kuey teow

Char kuey teow

The char kuey teow in Restoran Mayang Jaya is different from the normal ones. Where normal ones you normally get fish cake slices, chicken slices
and spring onions, this one uses chinese sausages. I didn't know at first that they use chinese sausages or I would have asked them to change to something else. Because I don't really fancy them. There were also some prawns but very little and some cockles. The noodles are actually not bad, nicely fried, taste quite good but it would be better without the chinese sausages as I think they don't really mix well with char kuey teow.

King Prawn Linguine Cry Sep 18, 2012

Categories : Western variety | Café | Burgers / Sandwiches | Sweets/Snack

I always liked having meals at The Bee or just to hang out. I particularly like their brunch sets but this time I want to try something different. And in the end, I regretted not sticking to the brunches.

I ordered the king prawn linguine as it sounded very appetizing. But it was a disappointment as the sauce was too sour and the linguine was not properly cooked. Some part was fully cooked but some part were still a bit tough. The king prawns didn't look nor taste like king prawns as they are small in size and wasn't that fresh.

It was not a good experience and I would strictly recommend to stick with the brunch sets.
