Yummy grilled chicken Smile Aug 28, 2012

Yes, that's a quarter chicken, not half!

Yes, that's a quarter chicken, not half!

Nando's is no stranger to good quality grilled chicken. Now the question is, which outlet do you get your money's worth. I've been to several outlets and their serving is quite the same except for this one in Tropicana City Mall. I was on a 'creative outing' with my colleagues when we had out lunch before getting some books. We had our lunch at Nando's which is situated on the ground floor, opposite the Dijaya show space. I ordered the quarter chicken with 2 sidelines and waited for about 20 minutes before food was served. Waiting takes some time but the outlet was full and the waiters were courteous. It was also the first time I ordered grilled vegetables as one of my sides as I grew bored of rice/coleslaw/peri chips combo. When my order arrive, it was a pleasant surprise that the quarter chicken looks more like a half! Even my colleagues were laughing and compare against each other's portion. The grill vegetables were surprisingly good too! Now I have a new side to add to my sides combo smile

Pesto Pasta @ Seed Cafe Smile Sep 24, 2012

Came by Midvalley one day and found this cafe at the near corner of Midvalley Megamall.

I wanted to try something different, so Pesto Pasta was the way. I usually would order the cream or ketchup based pasta, but the waiter recommended a the pesto pasta, and so I tried.

When it arrived, it looked a little weird for me, but still interesting. The pasta is green in colour and has a pignolis mixed in it with raw beansprout as garnishing.

The first taste was a little weird, as it is sourish and a little saltiness but it has a nice strong flavour to it. I cannot describe it exactly, but it is actually quite good. Coupled with the strong tasting raw beansprouts, it makes a nice combination!

Came to this restaurant recently with a group of colleagues after work to wind down and celebrate a recent milestone.

This restaurant has a huge billboard on the way to Subang Airport, in which gives the impression that the restaurant look posh and expensive.

Indeed, when we arrived it was quite full house, and we had to take a number. Once our number has been called, approximately 15 minutes later we were seated. The restaurant were posh, and well decorated. Of course, it has the usual aquariums for you to admire all of the different live seafood that they can offer here.

We ordered a mixture of vegetables and of course seafood.
Fried vegetables

Fried vegetables

First to arrive was the fried vegetables. It was fried with only garlic, but it was delicious as it was crunchy and has a light flavouring of garlic in it. The vegetables were a little oily for my liking though.
Steamed Grouper

Next was the steamed garoupa. The steamed sauce was excellent, as it compliments the fish very well. The fish was steamed to perfection. It has a smooth and flaky meat. It has no fishy smell at all, which indicate its freshness. The meat were also plentiful, all in chunks.
Lala soup

Lala soup

The lala soup came next. This dish was a little disappointing, as I could smell some fishiness in the lala. The soup was sweet, however as it was cooked with sweet tong guai herbs. At the end of the soup, there were some sand, which really spoilt the entire dish.
Baked crab

Baked crab

Finally, the baked crabs arrived. It was arranged in such a way that the claws were grouped together, so each of us get to have a claw each. The meat was fresh and full of crabby taste. As it was baked, it retains most of the sweetness in the crab meat. Definitely the star of the dinner.

Expensive piglet @ El Cerdo KL Smile Sep 18, 2012

Came by KL for a celebration dinner with a fellow friend who just got a huge promotion in his work. He recommended that we go El Cerdo for a nice dinner with a few of us.

We ordered the half piglet, as he recommended it. The piglet took quite some time to arrive, but when it did it shocked so many of us.
Half piglet

Half piglet

The piglet was exactly what was meant in the menu. It was sliced into half and roasted into crispiness. The waiter then asked one of us to 'cut' the piglet with only a plate. I was wondering how was that possible with a blunt plate. But then the piglet was roasted into such crispiness it was not a problem at all. After the cutting ceremony was done, the waiter then asked him to just smash the plate into a tub that they have prepared for us. Apparently he explained it was for good luck. Which he may need it for his new position.

The waiter then proceeded to cut the piglet into pieces so we are able to savour it. The pork was crispy and delicious! It has a nice layer of crispy skin, followed by a thin layer of fat and some meat as well.
It was marinated well, not too salty and it goes really well with beer.

For RM188++, this half piglet was very expensive indeed. (Of course, the smashing of the plate counts into the price as well).

It was a fun and yummy experience. Perhaps I will come again after I get a fat paycheck.

Awesome Yong Tau Fu @ Puchong Smile Sep 17, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Yong Tau Fu

One of the days I was brought here by a fellow friend who insisted that there is this Yong Tau Fu in Puchong which can rival to the famous one in Ampang.

Of course, given such rave reviews, I was raring to go with high expectations as well.

When we arrived there, the restaurant was overloaded with people, and we had to wait for a good 20 minutes before we could finally secure a place. This itself has already risen the bar for me, and I am really expecting something really awesome.

My friend went to make the orders, as he had to select the yong tau fu, and they will cook it and bring it over later.

After waiting for another 20 minutes or so, the food has arrived. My friend ordered a truckload of yong tau fu, and I was worried if we could finish it or not.

The fried beancurds and yar chau kwai was fried to golden brown, and was full of crispiness. The stuffings in the beancurd were given generously, unlike many other yong tau fu restaurants that I have tried. It was absolutely delicious, and surely very addictive.

Next came the souped food. My friend ordered some meatballs, stuffed chilli, stuffed tofu. stuffed ladies fingers and some fish paste as well. The soup was as expected MSG filled. However, the yong tau fu was superb as well. The thing that makes this places special is because of its stuffings. The stuffings were very aromatic with the fish and pork smell and taste.

We left the place bloated, but very happy. The food is awesome, and rightly so, the crowd has chosen that this restaurant is indeed one of the best in terms of Yong Tau Fu. My only complaint is that it is quite hot and stuffy during afternoons, but for good food it is all worth it.
