Be prepared to wait for more than 25 minutes for your noodles, even though there is only 2 tables (with 4 person) before your turn, at 830pm.

But the noodles are quite worth your wait even though the portion is slightly small for a normal eater. Perfect portion for supper.

The server got our order all wrong, I ordered stew pork small yellow noodle RM10, but I got bihun and my order of ying yong is been replaced by watanhor RM8. OMG! Didnt say a word but just dig into my food because its such a long wait and I'm getting impatient and hungry!

The watanhor (egg gravy koey teow) gravy is yummy, with bits of just nicely cooked egg that is still a bit raw but not overly raw. I hope you get what I mean. tongue However the prawn is not fresh, it's a disappointment and almost spoil the dish, if it has fishy taste! The noodle is nice, got wok hei.

The stew pork noodle is a yum. Melt in your mouth slices of kao yok (hakka styled stew pork) eaten with green pickled chili. So good!

I have to mention that I felt quite thirsty after the dinner though. Didn't order supposely famous Sang Har Mee because not really a fan of big prawns smile

Portion might not be enough for guys :P

Portion might not be enough for guys :P

One of our favorite place to eat when we run out of dinner idea.

Mee Pok with crispy pork lard! The hakka styled noodle is cooked just right, giving it a pleasant al dente chew. A guy can probably finish this is 3 slurps because the portion is getting smaller and smaller in during few visits. sad

Clear soup koey teow noodle with fish balls and some fish paste. This healthier choice is also delicious, not laden with MSG.

The fried chee cheong fun portion is rather large though. We expect it to be snack sized. It tasted like Penang Fried Koey Teow with wok hei. Yum!

This curry mee is actually a wrong order, but it's a good mistake. The curry is fragrant, creamy and not so spicy.

Thick and not so sweet black glutinous rice tong sui, the portion is a bit too small. tongue

Above average Prawn Mee Smile May 03, 2012

Categories : Chinese | Stall / Warung | Noodles

This is a roadside stall near Kenanga Wholesale City Mall, next to a very colorful HinduTemple.

As the weather is hot, I ordered dry prawn noodle. The dry prawn noodle come with a small bowl of prawn noodle soup and has the same toppings as the soupy version. The portion is quite huge for RM 5.5 a bowl. The chicken slices is tender and there's a couple of medium sized prawns. I love the generous fried shallots toppings that gave the noodle extra crunch.
There is no boiled egg, but I'm okay with that.

The green chili sauce and red chili sambal adds spiciness and sourish kick, I didn't take too many of it. Just a dip here and there for taste.

Apart from prawn noodle, they also have lam mien, which is a yellow noodle in dark brown thick gravy with chicken and prawn slices.

Cold satay, sour service Cry Mar 24, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Malay | Restaurant | Halal | BBQ

This satay place is huge and probably can sit hundreds of people at one go. During my visit, it was a weekday so it's not crowded at all. We chose to sit in the air conditioned area, which was decorated with antiques.

It's a self service restaurant where you line up at the counter like fast food restaurant to buy food. The cashiers are not friendly though, we're greeted with a sour faced woman. Not a good sign. I forgot to snap a picture of the menu but for 3 person the bill came up to around RM33 for 30 sticks of satay (which I regretted), 2 plates of nasi impit, fruit juices that is so diluted I cant even taste what I'm drinking. Apart from satay they have stuff like nasi goreng and some noodles too.

It's weird that they do not give onions, just cucumbers but to my delight the cashier very grumpily scooped a handful of onions for me when I asked for it. I felt like I was begging for onions! sad For 30 sticks of satay, I only get like less than half an onion.

The satays are dry and not fragrant enough. I can name a few nameless places that served better satay than this famous satay place. Even Satay Malaysia's satay tasted better (nearby satay place also in Kajang). We took a long time to finish them and they got cold and tasted like cardboard. Perhaps the absence of fat pieces (chicken skins) that made the satay dry or they used chicken breasts instead of thighs or drumsticks. I'm not sure, never make satay before.

The sauce is good though, with extra bowl of sambal that is very spicy ( My spicy treshold is quite low) that gives an extra ooomph. The hot satay sauces saved the day, by giving the satay some extra flavor. Good to eat with just onions.

Overall, I think the place is over-rated and the mass produced satays are a disappointment. Perhaps during older days they are really good, but not now. Unfriendly cashiers and lame satays, lucky I checked out this place before bringing my non-local friend here to dine tongue

Not like Taiwanese food at all Cry Mar 23, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Taiwanese | Restaurant | Noodles | Juices / Bubble Tea / Tea / Yogurt

I try to avoid this place because all the food was prepared by trained foreign workers, while is a trend now if you are dining in KL and Selangor area.

The wantan mee noodle is flat and the wantan soup is super salty.
The salty chicken tasted day-old and not fresh.
The soup noodle is bland.
The claypot lou shu fen is okay, the taiwan sausages are nice.
Only the potato balls and fried salty chicken are acceptable, but usually you can't fail with fried stuff.

The drinks are overpriced and super sweet. I had to request for ice twice to dilute the drink.
Will not eat here unless there is no other choice.
