Curry mee in Genting OK Jun 06, 2012
Categories : Chinese | Kopitiam | Noodles

Genting coffee shop which is situated at Greenlane is famous among locals. The coffeshop here opened from morning till late afternoon about 4 pm till 5 pm. What is nice here. The food i love the most is the asam laksa but unfortunately the stall has not open yet as i am too early. So what i had this time?

The curry me here is served as usual curry mee which comes wit taugeh, shrimps , prawns as well as tau kua. The curry mee here comparable is still acceptable as the curry mee style is Penang Curry Mee but i still love the Nyonya style curry mee. The curry mee chilly is not much spicy which does not allowed dear to taste the umph and he went to request more.

Ro Gu Cha King OK Jun 06, 2012
Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Bak Kut Teh | Porridge

Rou Gu Cha is better known as Bak Kut Teh" in Penang. We were having lunch in Queensbay GP since we are kinda bored by those fast food .. and we decided to try something new.The restaurant offers a variety of Bak Kut Teh from pork to chicken and even vegetarian (Yes, you heard me right - a vegetarian "Bak Kut" teh with a touch of spice). And from Bak Kut Teh with soup to dry ones.

The set comes with steam rice, seasonal bean sprouts, dim sum, herbal jelly and chinese tea. Gan Rou Gu Cha has pork ribs, streaky pork, cartilage, meat ball, mushroom, beancurd stick, cuttlefish, lady finger, dried chili, vegetables. Hong Jiu Rou Gu Cha has pork ribs, streaky pork, cartilage, hock, meat ball, mushroom, beancurd stick, traditional beancurd and vegetables. The bak kut teh however is not as nice as in KL but the taste is still acceptable. The pork is fresh as well.

Other than that, the taste is very special . where the durian taste is very strong and it is tehir home made recipe. The texture is a bit rough but you can have a taste of the fragrant durian can be smell from afar. If you are durian lover, you might fall in love with the ice cream

Popiah at Kek seng OK Jun 06, 2012
Categories : Kopitiam | Ice Cream / Froyo / Gelato

As here, there is a lot of hawker delights to choose here. We had the popiah where it is wrapped with mengkuang, carrots, vegetables, and also some sweet sauce and chilly paste and minced meat with it.. Usually, the popiah is sold in pairs of 2 and the popiah here is quite good as the ingredients are fresh.

Asam Laksa at Kek Seng OK Jun 06, 2012
Categories : Kopitiam | Ice Cream / Froyo / Gelato

Kek Seng is named as one of the oldest coffeeshop in Penang and we had our dinner here with the asam laksa.

The asam laksa here is quite good where the noodles are silky and with the asam taste of it. The laksa is full of fish inside and the portion is kinda small. it is served with slices of cucumbers, vegetables, pineapples and bunga kantan ontop with the prawn paste with it. As for the soup, it has some soury taste of it too.
