Categories : Chinese | Kopitiam | Noodles

I get to known this place by the recommendation of a University friend who stays in Farlim. Before this, I just knew Kek Lok Si, Ayer Itam Laksa. The shop is located beside Farlim big field, or I can say near the Wednesday night, extremely crowded Farlim Night Market.

The Laksa full of the fish
The soup is superb nice

Well, King confectionary & also Jasmine Cake house are the most frequent visited cake house fo USMers. There are located strategically near USM main campus.

Honestly their cake is nice. Normally we tried to borrow the voucher from the friends around who own King's member card. It depend on the how you want to celebrate your friends' bday. The cakes above were bought for 2 different people and I didn't try before. I tried some others flavour. There is one round cake, it is covered by chocolate and mixture of cheese and chocolate. That one is really nice.

Ps: normally can get half price for their cake after 9pm.

Penang Well known western food OK Jun 05, 2012

Categories : Western variety | Restaurant | Pizza/Pasta | Steaks / Chops

A random thought of having western food as our 20th month celebration. We was surfing for any good deal to enjoy our meal. Unfortunately, sometimes it is really hard to find good deal in Penang. The bf suggested :"why don't we try the famous restaurant - James Foo in Tanjung bungah." So, without further consideration, we went there the next day. Never go to one of the most famous Western Food Restaurant in Penang will be a shame as well right.

It was a raining Friday night, while the splashing of the rain have no any impact to the business of James Foo. The restaurant was fully occupied and fortunately we managed to catch up a small couple seat near the corner. We didn't capture the signboard, and this was taken from web. James Foo Western Food is famous enough for us to get any single photo we need about them. Eg, Food, Menu, Environment. I would share my personal experience at there.

Personally I like their menu. It have clearly stated the variety of food they serve and some picture as reference. Most of the menu in other restaurants normally show "Main Course, Beverage", kind like this.
I manage to get some photos of the menu. The waitress actually kept the menu from me when they saw I am taking photo. While, i am not sure whether they don't like people to take photo, or they just want to keep that.

The Fish

The Lamb Chop

The Combo and the Pork

I chose the Grilled Garlic Chicken Chop. I would like to know what is the difference of their chicken chop as compare to others, which make their restaurant is so famous in Penang.

Personally I like garlic, and the adding of garlic is more special, as you seldom can find this in the menu of Western Food. And this do really make the sauce more heavy in taste and more scrumptious.

PRICE : RM8

My bf ordered the combo one. Grilled Chicken n "Lamb"combo. This is nice if you would like to try different food at one. This is very suitable for female too, as the variety food in small portion and it can satisfy the picky of female. This will definitely my choice if I saw this. As i was rush to washroom and missed out this menu. My bf know me well and order this.

PRICE : RM 11.00

The menu wrote cool ice-cream soda, and my bf thought there is ice-cream on top of the juice. He was shocked to see the waiter served us with this canned drink and it costs RM2.50.

In overall the food is really nice in James Foo. And the price is reasonable. It worth the prominence and compliment for people.

John King Egg Tart OK Jun 05, 2012

When you walk ahead to Queensbay GSC movie center / Neway Karaoke from the car park behind, you will pass through the Queensbay Food Court and also a stall which will be seen directly when you open the door from the staircase : John King Egg Tart.

Well, I knew about this egg tart long time ago, but I never try before until I saw a voucher in Jackcow. It was Buy 2 Free 2 for 2 flavors, which are Original and Pandan Flavors. My friend have helped me to redeem that voucher, and I was notified after having my dinner. So it is obvious for what I would comment on the egg tart. Basically, I more prefer the egg tart from Dim Sum Restaurant. I like the originality of Egg Tart from Dim Sum restaurant as the tart is more crunchy for me.

The Egg Tart

By the way, I prefer the Pandan Tart. It tastes nicer and more crunchy compare to the original. The original tart is too "keras" for me. Some people might prefer this type of tart, but I am the classic one who still love the classic tart.

Well, John King Egg Tart is originated from Hong Kong, and it is well known of their variety flavors' egg tart ranging from original, Pandan, Durian, Coffee and etc. My friend experience told me that the cold chocote tart is nice, but I never try, perhaps can grab it some day.

Came to Hard Rock Cafe by chance of our company event. In order to save our time for lunch, we are given 3 options from Hard Rock menu to choose for our lunch.
i) Cheese Bacon Burger

ii) Pulled pork sandwich
iii) Boneless Smoked BBQ Chicken

The food here is in big portion, many of us actually couldn't finish the food. I tried Cheese Bacon Burger. Basically the cheese bacon is nicely cook, while I don't like the steak. I don't eat steak actually, I voted for this set instead was because I have no idea that Cheese Bacon Burger is served with beef. Its okay, I learn to ask properly time. This lunch set comes with fries. I would say their fries is really nice. I like it so much, because it is not oily. Normally the fries served in other restaurant likes Fish Market, Nandos is damn oily. So I pretty like the fries here.

For the side dishes, I thought they will serve with mushroom soup, they served onion soup instead. Personally, I don't like that, as the soup is oily and I don't like the taste as well. And, I think most of the people from the table do have the same feeling. As many of us, just tried for 2 table spoons, and stop after that.

For the services part, we requested a mic from the management for having a small activity in the cafe. They were agreed to lend us. While, they changed their mind when there were few walk-in customers. The reason provided by the management was they need to respect the customers. Okay well, there were just 2 of them, and our group have about 70 people. So " don't you have to respect us?" So, one of my colleague, the MC needed to shout to run the activity. The funny part was the crews, the customers in other tables were all looking at the games we played. But, for sure, they can't hear clearly what my colleague say. So, if the management do think from all perspective, and they lend us the mic, we probably can help them to have a free entertainment to their customers.

Above all, I would say, if it is not a company event i wouldn't be there. Once talk about hard rock, the first thing that comes in mind will be "CLASS". However, to be sincere, the experience I had is totally under expectation. For the price our company pay, I would suggest to go for a buffet in hotel instead.
