Salad Timeeeeeee Smile Jul 24, 2012   (Related Review)

Before our main dishes arrived, my friends and I had the following grilled chicken salad at Tony Roma's.

My Miami Breeze (RM 12.90)

Very refreshing and cooling drink to kill of your thirst....

Grilled Chicken Pesto Salad (RM 25.90)

Abundance of grilled chicken breast meat were served on a bed of fresh lettuce. The grilled chicken were marinated nicely and tender to eat. Other than the chicken and lettuces, the salad is full of fresh button mushrooms, red peppers, tomatoes and chives blended with chopped greens. The salad was served with tomato pesto vinaigrette dressing giving it a slight sour taste which is very appetizing. Just like Tony's other dishes, the serving was large. Do share it with at least 3 people in order to finish it.

Salmon Scampi Pasta Smile Jul 22, 2012   (Related Review)

I was at Tony Roma's back in 2010 to celebrate Jol's birthday. The birthday girl ordered the following Salmon Scampi Pasta.

Salmon Scampi Pasta (RM 39.90)

The portion was too big for Jol to finish up by herself, thus Vincent and I shared some of the portion. It is still too much for the 3 of us. A big slab of grilled Norwegian salmon was given in this pasta dish. The salmon was slightly charred giving it a beautiful appearance. Lots of diced tomatoes were added in to give the pasta more flavor. The pasta however, were slightly oily but is still acceptable.

I am sure most of you out there know that Tony Roma's is famous for their baby back ribs. But my friends and I were there for their fish dishes instead.

At Tony Roma's one first need to choose the fish type (salmon or pacific cod). Secondly, choose the flavor which is prepared in 3 ways (Grilled, Blackened or Pan-seared with a Sesame Crust). And lastly, choose the toppings (Sweet Thai Chili Sauce, Kickin' Sauce, Garlic Scampi Butter and Tomato Pesto Salad).

Both Vincent and I chose the pacific cod fish. I had the blackened cod; while Vincent had the Mojo cod. Each dish was served with rice and vegetables.

Blackened Cod + Rice +Brocoli in Kickin Sauce (RM 39.90)

I blame my small tummy because I can't finish the whole plate by myself. Left plenty of rice..The rice were actually pretty good because it was slightly buttered and flavored with garlic....The fish is grilled to perfection and is very fresh and juicy. Don't have the fishy taste. The fish tasted just right with the kickin sauce where the sauce is slightly spicy and creamy....Thumbs up......

Mojo Cod + Rice + Brocoli (RM 44.90)

Just like my blackened cod, the mojo cod is fresh and grilled to perfection. The sauce is made from brown mustard and has slight citrus taste in it. Besides, the fush is also topped with pineapple salsa sauce which is one of Tony Roma's special in-house sauce.....Yummy yummy.....

Two weeks ago, Jol & I went to the newly opened Paradigm Mall in Kelana Jaya for a movie. After the movie, we had our dinner at Sushi Zanmai. This is actually my first time eating at Sushi Zanmai. There are currently 10 Sushi Zanmai outlets in Malaysia (including Hokkaido Sushi at 1 Utama and Hokkaido Ice Cream at Paradigm Mall). Sushi Zanmai brand themselve as the genuine conveyor-belt Sushi Restaurant. Service was good there. They constantly refill the ocha (RM 2) for us.

The sushi in Sushi Zanmai is priced according to the plates' colours. Price starts from Rm 1.80 for yellow plate and highest is RM 6.80 for red plate. Jol and I had 3 plates of sushi for that night.

Blue plate sushi (RM 2.80)

Wee.....my cheap tamago sushi. The way they top the sushi with mayonnaise made it very attractive...nice and sweet.....

Pink plate sushi (RM 3.80)

I'm not sure what is the name of this sushi but it is topped with mini fried shrimps...not bad......

Black plate sushi (RM 4.80)

Again, I am not sure what is the name of this sushi but the sushi rice is wrapped in tofu skin....Again this is topped with mayonnaise. A clever way to make it tastier...

Aside from the sushis above, we also ordered the following Ebi Okonomiyaki for a price of RM 12.80.

Ebi Okonomiyaki

Okonomiyaki is actually a type of Japanese pancake topped with a variety of ingredients. Ours is topped with mini fried shrimps. The main base of the pancake is actually made from egg made into omelette. With the crispy shrimps and mayonnaise, just one bite and you will definitely love this pancake. The portion served is just right to be shared by 2 people.........Yummy yummy........

Soft Shell Crab Promotion OK Jul 22, 2012

Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Seafood | Ramen/Udon/Soba

Currently, Sushi Zanmai is having their soft shell crab promotion which has been running since 29 Jun, ending on 26 July. Various soft shell crab dishes can be selected at different dates. The choices included are Soft Shell Crab Harumaki (29 Jun - 26 July), Tempura Spider Roll (29 Jun - 5 July), Soft Shell Crab Don (6-12 July), Soft Shell Crab Croquette (13-19 July) and Mentai Mayo Spider Roll (20-26 July).

Both Jol and I decided to have the Soft Shell Crab Harumaki because it is easier for us to share the meal.

Soft Shell Crab Harumaki aka Soft Shell Crab Spring Roll (RM 13.80)

The soft shell crab harumaki was presented nicely to us in a dragon like shape with a head and a tail. The soft shell crab was deep fried and wrapped in a spring roll wrapper together with some vegetables. However, the soft shell crabs were not that crispy and pretty tasteless and the roll is mainly filled with vegetables instead of the crab. To make it more taste, I actually had to dip the roll onto the mayonnaise dressing. They should have put more crab into the roll and properly fried the crab to make them better.

Close shot of the harumaki....
