Duck Meal  Smile Aug 13, 2012

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Noodles | Porridge

Time passes really fast as it is 6 months already since my last visit to Kam Heong. Today, mum and I finally tried Kam Heong's famous Lou Ngap aka braised duck for dinner. Besides the duck, we also had their braised duck intestines and gizzards. We returned home happy because the meal was good.

The chilli sauce to eat with the dishes are spicy and exciting.

Fragrant rice
The rice is good to eat even on its own and even nicer when eaten together with the gravy of the braised duck.

Braised duck
The above portion is for 2 people. The duck meat is tender & juicy and I don't really need to use much force to get the meat out from its bone. Although not healthy, it is best to eat the meat and skin together because it taste so good. Thumbs up..

Duck Gizzards
The gizzards were soft enough to chew unlike some places where the gizzards are so tough.

Duck Intestines
The intestines has a slight crunchy texture.

Both the gizzards & intestines were soaked in the delicious duck broth.

P/S: Do come early to avoid the crowd...

Total damage including 3 rice + 1 Chinese tea = RM 19.00

Vege Sharky Soup Smile Aug 06, 2012

Categories : Chinese | Stall / Warung | Seafood

Always pass by this sharks fin stall in OUG pasar malam and I finally gave a try to it. It is a good way of getting a quick fix for sharks fin soup without burning a hole in your pocket because the bowl of sharks fin soup is only RM 4.50.A must-try soup if you are not into having the original shark fin soup in a high class restaurant. Besides, the sharks fin is actually made from flour, not the real sharks fin. So, it is save to eat for those who are into saving sharks...lol....

A packet of wine and vinegar were given to enhance the flavour of the soup. The black black substance of the soup is actually the wine and vinegar. After mixing them together, I get a good thick, warm and starchy soup.

Other than the fake sharks fin, another ingredient in the soup were real crab meats. The amount of crab meats given were decent for its price.

Can you spot the sharks fin strand on the spoon? Looks thick to me. And it tasted like soo hoon @ tung fun.

Mixed Pork Soup  Smile Aug 03, 2012

Categories : Food court | Seafood

A few days ago, I went to DDP food court to have lunch. I shared with mum the following mixed pork soup from the stall which sells Mixed Pork Soup and Kampung Chicken Rice. This stall is located next to the Pan Mee stall and both stalls are actually operated by the same people. We waited quite long for the soup to arrived but it is worth it because the soup is delicious.

This big bowl of mixed pork soup is only priced at RM 7.00 which includes two plain rice. The soup contains generous amount of pork meat and innards like pig heart, stomach, tongue and pork liver. I like the chewy texture of the innards but I didn't like the pork meat because the meat is on the tough side. The soup is cooked using black pepper and added with tomatoes and pickled mustards as well as asam boi. I really enjoyed the soup because of the sourness provided by the asam boi and pickled mustards.

Steam Fish Head Smile Jul 27, 2012

Categories : Food court | Porridge

Fatty Frog is a stall at Restaurant Ninety Nine in Taman OUG which sells a variety of porridge, steamed fish head, kung pou frog leg and meat. Among the types of porridge being sold are the Fish Porridge With Century Egg, Century Egg With Pork Porridge, Frog Meat Porridge and mussel porridge. If I am not wrong, the price of the porridge starts from RM 7. Mum and I ordered their chopped garlic and ginger steamed fish head. The fish is of "Soong" fish type. Oh ya, please go there early if you don't want to wait for table because there were already many people over there even as early as 5.30pm.

Chopped garlic and ginger steamed fish head (RM 24)

Although we ordered a small portion of the fish head, but the fish head arrived is actually quite huge. We had a hard time finishing up the fish head. But we enjoyed the dish very much as the fish was fresh and the flesh was smooth and sweet because the fish was steamed just right, not over steamed. I especially love the flesh of the cheek. It is the best part of the fish. Luckily, the fish doesn't have the fishy or mud taste. I like the accompanying chopped garlic and ginger which gives the fish slightly spicy in taste but it does get spicier with each bite. The gravy is also quite good, not really salty. In my opinion, the fish is charged at a reasonable price because the fish head is actually quite big.

Salad Timeeeeeee Smile Jul 24, 2012   (Related Review)

Before our main dishes arrived, my friends and I had the following grilled chicken salad at Tony Roma's.

My Miami Breeze (RM 12.90)

Very refreshing and cooling drink to kill of your thirst....

Grilled Chicken Pesto Salad (RM 25.90)

Abundance of grilled chicken breast meat were served on a bed of fresh lettuce. The grilled chicken were marinated nicely and tender to eat. Other than the chicken and lettuces, the salad is full of fresh button mushrooms, red peppers, tomatoes and chives blended with chopped greens. The salad was served with tomato pesto vinaigrette dressing giving it a slight sour taste which is very appetizing. Just like Tony's other dishes, the serving was large. Do share it with at least 3 people in order to finish it.
