Romantic Dining! OK Jun 09, 2012

"Let's grab our dinner at The Apartment!"
"Huh?! Which apartment offers food?"
"THE APARTMENT. It's a restaurant!"
"Ohhh...."

Ayam percik. You get chicken in chilli sauce served with fresh homemade salad, sambal, keropoks, salted egg & nasi kerabu. This ayam percik tasted a bit weird; its aroma didn't smell like those chickens you find at stalls and it certainly didn't taste like one either :|

Potato fried chicken. 2 pieces of deep-fried boneless chicken coated with shredded potatoes & served with sun-dried tomato sauce & watercress. I liked this one! Chicken was flavourful and tender.

Caramelized orange as dessert. It's written on the menu "request for non alcohol if preferred" but when I told the waiter, I was told this dessert doesn't contain alcohol in it by default. Presentation was very attractive, the top was sprinkled with spicy almond and served with vanilla ice-cream. Took my first bite and I found myself having difficulties swallowing the orange down because it tasted so bitter. Couldn't be alcohol right? My friend and I did an experiment by rinsing the oranges with plain water and then took a bite again, this time the orange still tasted bitter but acceptable to me.

Western meals at "America" OK Jun 07, 2012

Don't be deceived by the decorations inside the shop, don't worry, you're not in America!

Ultimate Mixed Grill; a combination of succulent lamb, juicy grilled steak and fresh prawns! Cooked perfectly with special BBQ sauce! Buttered vegetables and steak fries are served along. In my opinion, this is slightly overpriced. One could get better steak and perhaps more prawns for the price he/she is paying.

Melted Mushroom BBQ Chicken. This one was grilled to perfection, covered in thick mushroom sauce with fries and fresh vegetables on the side, I was happy!

Bon Appetit!

Mango Icey Combo OK Jun 07, 2012
Categories : Chinese | Stall / Warung | Desserts

As shown in title, this will be a combination of mango ice cream and fruits. Frankly speaking, the only special thing in this dessert is probably the mango ice cream. The rest is quite common; watermelon, kiwi, honeydew, strawberry and mango with a few pieces of nata de coco.

Hui Lau Shan is famous for their juicy mangoes and they claim that the mangoes they use everyday is imported. However this is not the case for me. I felt that the mangoes used in this icey combo is not up to standards and they tasted sour and hard to me, signs indicating that they are probably not ripe yet.

This outlet is always packed with customers and one must queue up for their turn. Waiters and waitresses are quite friendly even though they appear to be busy most of the time.

Spending per head: Approximately RM15(下午茶)

POPcorn OK Jun 07, 2012

Categories : Stall / Warung

Garett's popcorn is definitely the new attraction in town. There is always a long queue in front of Candylicious One Utama, most are seen to be queuing up for these tasty popcorns.

This is the Macademia Caramel Crisp. Coated with caramel together with macademia nuts, this type is exactly the one that I like. Some of them are rather big piece though, making it difficult for me to slowly enjoy the popcorns bits by bits.

Cheese corn. Luckily for me, I managed to sample this type instead of purchasing the whole bag otherwise I think I'm gonna regret about it. Too cheesy (and perhaps oily) to my liking. Not to mention that the popcorns are softer compared to those caramel coated ones.

Butter popcorn on top. Nothing special to shout about on this. Salt and butter, and you get butter popcorn!

In conclusion, Garett's popcorns are expensive. It's ok to have this once in a blue moon though tongue

Eat all you can, or not.  OK Jun 05, 2012

Maiu restaurant is famous for its daily lunch or dinner buffet at a cheap price.

When bf and I visited this place, we were seated immediately and given a checklist for buffet. Frankly speaking, the checklist is rather simple with name of dishes and boxes for customers to tick to select their choices of food.

Since both of us barely understand what type of dishes are there on the checklist, we decided to forgo the buffet and opted for menus.

I love cheese. So when I saw this dish - Tori Cheese (Deep fried chicken with cheese and spring onion) on the menu at, I knew I just had to order it. What can I say? It totally made my day! smile

Tori Katsu Don for the bf. I'm sure most of you are familiar with this since it's commonly found on the menu in most Japanese restaurants. Rice topped with fried chicken, egg and spring onion and seaweed! Served with a bowl of miso soup, this dish will turn an angry man into a happy man. Hehe.
