A bit of bistro-hopping at Kota Damansara, a neighborhood of gastronomic hits & misses.First up, Voir Dire. The place is small and the menu is compact, but bigger isn't necessarily better. Voir Dire's pork platter is a simple Chinese-inspired selection of sausages, balls, luncheon meat and 'sui kow' dumplings, all well-done and wonderful for snack-lovers to share.Slurp-worthy spaghetti carbonara, bolstered by bacon and enriched with a raw egg.Pork burger, also a pleasure. Voir Dire's probably worth recommending; no frills, but a fun nook.If Voir Dire's co-owner and resident mixologist James is around, ask him for some of his specialty cocktails. This one was created to help a heartbroken customer forget her lost love. Potently constructed with cointreau, blue curacao, triple sec, rum and lime juice. Not our grandmother's tea: Gin, ginger ale and cranberry juice. Not our grandfather's coffee: Kahlua, Bailey's and milk. continue reading

My friend asked us to join him for a drink at Voir Dire (pronounced as Vo-ir Di-re) in Kota Damansara nearby sunway Giza there for a drink. Its my first time there and i don't know what to order so the bartender make me a ransom cocktail by just looking at my face and mood. So he made me a something like a Tropical feel cocktail drink in an english style cup. It tasted like mixed of lemon juice, fruit juice with some vodka. It tasted really good and hes professional in making a drink based on your look. Next time when you have a visit there, you can ask them to make you a random cocktail. The atmosphere there was very cozy. Theres a girl with her partner singing jazz soulful songs, Its a very relaxing place for people to chit-chat and have a talk there. Since i was quite hungry , i ordered a carbonara spaghetti and it comes in a big portion and tasted not bad too. continue reading

Was going to Giant Kota Damansara for shopping and after that thought of having dinner & drink with friend around The Strand. Just when we were wondering which pub to go, we were attracted by the name of this - Voir Dire - (in fact still having some problem pronouncing it). This place is new, has a nice classy frontage, and hence we decided to give it a tryThe menu is simple, but they have this main course that immediately caught my eyes: Pork Chop!! and without much hesitation i've decided to order it. My friend, instead, was ordering a Grilled chicken pasta. Soon the food arrived. The pork chop was good! Unlike elsewhere which they normally ask you to choose your sauce upon ordering, this pork chop comes with 2 types of sauces, served together - Mushroom and black pepper sauces in 2 separate small glass containers. It was a very juicy, tender and quite a thick cut piece of meat. Same goes to the pasta, it was good, full of garlic aroma with chicken grilled to perfection. As for drinks, my friend ordered a Paulaner beer while i took the recommendation from the boss - cranberry vodka, and it was nice!British pool table is available, nice environment. They also have live band from time to time and open mic session for you to sing. If you're lucky (like us), you may even have a chance to listen to the boss singing himself!Overall a nice pub to go, a good place to catch up with friends or even a meal! Will definitely revisit. continue reading
