Kushi Q @ Tropicana City Mall is specialized in Japanese grilled cuisine, Teppanyaki. There are six choices of Teppanyaki set available here namely, chicken teppanyaki set, beef, salmon, prawn, mackerel fish and scallop, with price ranges from RM9.90 to RM16.90. The Chicken Teppanyaki Set was served with bean sprout and mixed vegetables, chicken teppanyaki, white rice, miso soup and cut watermelon. The chicken teppanyaki was chopped into tiny pieces and the serving portion was relatively small compared to the bean sprout and mixed vegetables bigger serving portion. White rice being served instead of Japanese rice. Miso soup was very salty. Need some improvements in their food preparation. continue reading

This is my first time trying their udon set.For chicken kushi set with udon, it cost RM 13.90 nett.THe set comes with Chicken stick with mentaiko flavour, leek teriyaki flavour and capsicum thai .The set meals served with zaru soba, green tea , hot spring egg and miso soup.I'm surprise when the meal is served because the soba is cold and so as the hot spring egg. I expect the hot spring egg should be hot.The soba is lack of taste, but its nice to have it with the egg and the barbeque chicken. The hot spring egg is the half-boiled egg, where you can add it into the udon or have it alone.Quite a unique set meals but i prefer the set comes with rice rather than the soba. continue reading

Take a break from groceries shopping by visiting Tropicana City Mall’s Kushi Q if you’re a fan of Japanese yakitori. The attractive set lunches pulled us in for a try out in this tiny eatery corner. Once sat down, we felt cozy with the zen style decor while adoring the logo lighted on the wall.Looking at the menu, there are 3 choices for each sets of kushi. Chicken, seafood and beef is the main kushi choices, but the sets are flexible to be mixed around. The rests of the selection are site dishes to be added on with the kushi’s.We ordered the Kushi Chicken Set (RM13.90), with different tastes of chicken (mentaiko flavour, capsicum thai, and leek teriyaki). It was exciting to see the food, very well served despite what was expected. The set comes with a bowl of seaweed soup and 2 slices of watermelon.Yes, it does looked good, but when we took our bites, it was all just too chill to taste. Only the soup was hot as meant to be. The yakitori should be good if it is served hot from the grill! Served with a bowl of zaru soba and a delicious looking hot spring egg. The soba was too strong in ‘shoyu’, and the soup has fried onions in it. Very local indeed. continue reading
