The cafe is decorated in a wooden look. The buffet breakfast here is served from 6.30am to 10.30am. The variety is limited, but still acceptable. There is chicken sausages, baked bean, hash browns, sliced breads, and buns with a roller toaster. For local food, there is coconut flavoured rice, curry chicken, fried eggs and the makings for a nasi lemak dish. For those prefer something plain, there is plain porridge with pickled vegetables. For Indian food, there is roti prata, and vegetable curry. As the roti prata is pre-made, it is a bit tough in texture. There is also cornflakes, cut fruits, coffee, tea and even hot milk (which one seldom see these days). continue reading

It was my first time over to Pearl International Hotel at Old Klang Road, and what better time to pay this hotel a visit than to check out their Ramadhan Buffet Preview Dinner. With a tagline that reads "Feast of Ramadhan - Jom Berbuka Puasa @ Pearl", we were glad to get the opportunity to try out the food. The theme this year for the Ramadhan Buffet @ Pearl International Hotel KL was "hot-on-your-plate action stalls" which wasn't really a new concept, but one which is always good in my books. We saw our favourite food served piping hot done a-la-minute. The first thing that caught my eye this time around wasn't the satay (yes, they have my favourite satays too), but rather, it was the Lamb Carving Station. Served on a rotational basis, we were presented either with the Harissa marinated whole lamb, the fresh mix herb marinated whole lamb, or the Arabic marinated whole lamb. I did like the taste of the "kambing golek", moist and tender going well with the accompanying mint sauce. With more than 100 authentic Malaysian dishes served from the kitchen of Pearl International Hotel, it does not matter if you came with your family, or with friends, everyone is bound to find something they like. Spoilt for choice, we had numerous Main Courses laid out, Kerabu Action Salad Station, Malaysian Pickles, Soups, Live Hawker Action stalls, and lots of desserts for the sweet tooth. Personally I found the dessert spread for their Ramadhan buffet very colourful, with desserts ranging from western favourites; chocolate brownies, fruit tart, mocha walnut cake, to assorted Malay kuihs. continue reading

Pearl International Hotel is now a brandnew icon along Old Klang Lama after its refurbishment. I find that their local food is quite satisfying with the buffet price tag at only RM55++. The spread is quite wide, but I don't enjoy the seafood there, not as fresh as I thought. Other than that, the curry, rendang and fried foodstuff are all very flavourful, strong in coconut milk flavours yet not too sweet for my liking. I enjoy their dates before heading for the hearty nasi briyani. For the nasi briyani, it is rather dry but still acceptable with the strong aroma and firm texture. Delicious! continue reading
