As my boyfriend was feeling heaty, he decided to order the cold herbal tea to cool his body down. The herbal tea is quite strong tasting, and clearly there it was not diluted or watered down. There were bits and pieces of herbal pieces which were nice to chew as well. The sweetness of drink was perfect, as it was neither too sweet nor too bland. For RM2.20, it is quite well priced.
I ordered the Umbra Juice as my choice of beverage for the meal. The umbra juice is surprisingly very tasty. I could clearly taste every fiber of umbra in the drink with minimal sugar added. The umbra flavour is very strong. Furthermore the thickness of the drink is just right. For RM3.50, it is very value for money. In fact, it is among one of the best umbra juice that I have tasted in a long while.
The waiter persuaded us to add one more dish to complement our rice dishes, so we ordered the Fried Hong Kong Kailan with Century Egg. This vegetable dish arrived together with our rice dishes which is pleasant, so we were able to eat it with our rice.
The kailan was extremely fresh and young as it was very crunchy. This dish had minimal sauce and flavouring, but with the minimal sauce it made the vegetables very smooth and lightly salted. The combination of century egg with this dish is a little strange but acceptable. The century egg was probably lightly fried together with the vegetables so it was still quite intact with its pieces quite big. The century egg was not very strong in its flavour, but strong enough to taste and complement with the vegetables.
I find that the seating spaces in Auntie Sim are quite small and there isn't much room for staffs and customers to walk around, which may be uncomfortable to some. Regardless, my boyfriend ordered the butter milk chicken rice which is also another of their recommended dish as stated in the menu.
Aunty Sim's butter milk chicken rice seemed to me to be the no frills type, given the lack of anything extra other than the butter milk chicken itself. The butter milk chicken has little butter and dairy flavour and it tastes very starchy. It tastes a little spicy due to the chopped chilli. The biggest problem about this dish is the lack of saltiness. The white rice however, is very dry and therefore does not go well with the butter milk chicken. In my opinion the white rice spoiled the dish as I could not finish it in the end.
It was dinner time and I was going around Damansara Uptown area looking to try something new, when my boyfriend suggested to try Auntie Sim, as he heard some good feedback on this restaurant. The restaurant was quite busy which was a good sign. However, upon getting seated it took the staffs quite some time to actually come by to take our orders.
We tried this teo chew dish at here which is the teow chew vegetables cooked in soup recommended by the Tauke.
This is the braised pork and duck platter which cost around RM18 for a small portion. It comes with eggs and tofu which is good for 2 as we can tried various type of food in 1 platter. The braised pork and duck was good its was nice when mixed with the sambal sauce with lemon . It gives the taste of sweet, sour, spicy , salty and has a nice aroma. However I feel that it is quite expensive as the platter comes in a smaller portion compared to the photo in menu.
This is the drinks that I had,hot Honey lemon juice, with a slice of lemon on top. Good for sore throat and health. The sour of lime is balanced up by the honey taste.
