I seldom order squid dishes unless it is fried calamari. As I wanted to have something in sweet sour sauce, I ordered the Deep Fried Squid with Sweet Sour Sauce. True to its name, the dish has two distinctive tastes – sweet and sour which complement each other very well. It also has a hint of spiciness in it as fresh chopped chillies are thrown in the dish too. It has some vegetables namely cucumber and onions to give it a sweeter and refreshing taste. Apart from the usual tom yam and beef with basil leave, why not try the Fried Chicken with Curry Thai Style at Aroma Thai Restaurant? This is quite an interesting dish where it offers some gravy to pair with white rice. The chicken pieces are fried slightly to firm its outer layers before mixed with the curry gravy. The chicken is moist and tender and emits a fragrance due to the frying and the curry is good! It is at the right consistency and has the right spiciness without overshadowing the ch

Another good dish at Aroma Thai Restaurant is its Fried Beef with Basil Leaf. It is one of the most famous dishes in Thai cuisine apart from Tom Yam. Again, its presentation is very simple where it uses colour contrast to feed the eyes before actually filling the tummy. I liked the minced beef’ tenderness where it isn’t too tough to chew. Besides that, it gives out a spicy flavour to it with its chopped fresh chillies. Not forgetting the basil leaves, which are slightly blanched in hot oil to op

It has the combination of spiciness, saltiness and fragrance from the basil leaves which makes it a good dish to have your white rice with.

It’s hard to find a restaurant specializing in authentic Thai cuisine in your neighbourhood. It’s either the dishes are too plain and bland or too artificial coupled with not-so-fresh ingredients. The prawns are deep fried before being tossed in the butter ‘sauce’ mixture. The mixture was done perfectly well, emitting a fragrant buttery smell to it. I also liked its butter shreds where it is not too oily and not too dry. The prawns are fresh and crispy too! I just chewed down everything without taking off the shells. You’ll never go wrong with this dish here.

Mango Sticky RiceThe Mango Sticky Rice here was a traditional thai dish, one which was both unique and delicious. The mango itself was fresh, and of the sweet variant. Coupled with the sticky rice, this dessert was definately something to look forward to. Served cold, the rice has this sticky-like texture to it, something like pulut or something. It was really filling though. Love the mangos.

Water Chestnut Drink My favourite dessert at any thai restaurant, i did not hesitate to order this drink/dessert from Aroma Thai. It came in santan filled bowl, with nangka and red coloured water chestnut inside. A refreshing drink indeed as it was served ice cold with ice cubes inside. The dessert itself was really sweet, but i like it sweet, as it wouldnt be my favourite if it wasn't sweet enough. This is a must order.

A different variation of Thai Fried Rice, Tom Yam Fried RiceIf the salted fish fried rice was good, then this was slightly better. Aroma Thai fried the rice with added tomyam paste inside, which gave out a really nice flavour to the whole dish. The dish had lots of seafood inside, namely the prawns, and cuttle fish, stir fried with some chilli padis. Be careful as it can get quite spicy

Thai Salted Fish Fried riceAroma Thai's Thai Salted FIsh Fried Rice had a really aromatic smell to it. The moment it arrived on our table we could smell it, probably because of the generous amounts of salted fish they put inside. Stir fried to a crisp, the salted fish blended well with the fried rice. There were lots of egg in the rice too, enhancing the already nice taste.

Fresh steamed fishI'm always a fan of steamed fish, expecially if the fish is really fresh. Unfortunately for this dish, i felt that the fish wasn't really fresh, that it left a slightly bad after taste. The condiments that accompanied this dish however was okay, with lots of ginger and tomyam paste to bring out the flavour. It was unfortunate that the fish wasnt as fresh as i liked it to be.

Mango KerabuThe mango kerabu at Aroma Thai had a distinct flavor to it. Using fresh mangoes, mixed with an assortment of nuts, vegetables, lime, spices and carrots, this serve as a good appetizer to whet one's appetite before going for their main dishes. Now I've had better kerabus elsewhere, but its good to note here that they did give a lot of nuts. The taste was slighly too sour for my liking, probably they added in too much lime.

Cuttlefish fried with Salted EggThis was one of Aroma Thai's signature dish, which to me i felt was unique as it is not always you have a fried cuttlefish dish, let alone one which was fred with salted eggs. We all know salted eggs are better than the normal chicken egg, as it has a nicer aroma and taste. The fresh cuttlefish here tasted really good, without any stale taste at all. It wasn't really spicy, which is a good thing considering every other dish that I had at this restaurant was spicy.

Thai Long BeansLong beans are always a healthy option especially when taken in a Thai restaurant. The long beans here at Aroma Thai had a nice flavour to it, where we could actually smell it the moment it was served. I was glad to see the long beans wasn;t overcooked hence retaining its cripsy-like texture. The taste of this dish was spicy, where they actually used red chillis to increase its flavour.

Thai styled chilli kangkungA vegetable dish is always welcomed among all the meaty Thai dishes served here at Aroma Thai. WIth a rather huge serving that can cater for up to 3 diners, the thai styled chilli kangkung was indeed a good dish. The chilli used here was rather spicy, not for the soft hearted as it will make you break out in sweat. The kangkung was done nicely, with a soft but firm texture to it. Not overcooked nor undercooked.

Thai Otak OtakFor otak otak lovers, you wont go wrong here. I like these type of wet otak otak made of fish. Wrapped in a tinfoil to contain in all those flavours, there was a strong hint of santan as well as fish taste to this dish. I like it a lot, as it was neitehr too sweet nor salty. The otak otak had a soft texture to it, blending well with the other Thai dishes here. There were bits of prawns inside as well, enhancing the overall taste.

Mixed Vegetable Fried with MeatI was pretty impressed with this dish. It had more meat than vegetables actually. The long beans were chopped up, and stir fried to perfection with a lot of minced chicken meat. Add in some really flavourful black soy and garlic sauce with chilli and spicies, this dish was both spicy and tasty indeed. To be taken with rice, one serving can fit at least 2 diners.
