Las Vacas' second outlet has opened in Mont Kiara _ a more convenient location for many of us compared to the Kelana Jaya premises of this butcher shop/restaurant. Beef is the name of the game here. We wanted a Wagyu steak, but the store's credit card machine was not yet online. Reluctant to hunt for an ATM, we pooled the limited cash in our pockets and chose a cheaper cut, the Angus rib-eye, a hearty slab prepared medium-rare. Carrots, asparagus & cheese wrapped with beef. Succulent and enormously flavorful; even more enjoyable than the good-but-not-great steak, frankly. Beef burger. The basic, no-frills 150gm version (we couldn't afford the 500gm one, which would have been topped with beef bacon & fried egg, sob!). This might not win any awards, but it should still satisfy anyone who loves biting into a juicy burger. A small selection of lamb is available. These chump chops were easy on the wallet, though they were bony and kinda chewy. Las Vacas also serves wine by the bottle, but not by the glass, so the cruelest cut of all was that we had to forgo our usual alcohol indulgences. continue reading

I understand that rump meat is generally chewy and offers more resistance, and it is a very lean cut that is relatively inexpensive; but Las Vacas really ruins it.It is not my first time having rump, so I know what to expect. Las Vacas' steak is extremely tough and chewy. I never ask for steak well done, but this tasted well done. I should've returned it... but I didn't.That was my first steak there, and I've never eaten there since. continue reading

I was recommended to visit this place by a friend as a good choice for a lunch venue.Having lived here longer then me he told me this is the best burger in KL, so I took his advice and joined him today.I have to say he wasn't wrong, 1st of all the choice of burgers was very good, offerings of beef, lamb, chicken and even salmon burgers at various weights. They also offer an excellent range in Steaks of different kinds too, all day breakfasts and Sunday Lunches (Sunday Only surprisingly)I opted for a standard 150g Beef Burger (RM17), my friend opted for the 250g Beef Burger (RM20) both burgers come fully loaded with fresh lettuce, tomato, a slice of cheese and a Caesar dressing with a side of fries included in the price. The ground beef was very good, not fatty and cooked to perfection (medium rare for me, but they will cook them however you like). The buns were large sesame buns which were grilled well and didnt go soggy even under the strain of salad, ketchup and dressing. The steaks that came out to other tables looked good too, infact everything I saw delivered to tables I would like to have tried. Theres also a butcher shop inside where you can purchase said cuts of beef to take home for your BBQ.Soft drinks were reasonably priced with coke etc at RM5.50 and a bottle of mineral water at RM4. All in all this is a very impressive eatery that is well priced, in a nice area with good attentive staff.10/10 Las Vacas, keep up the good work continue reading
