We bought the voucher of this restaurant with a promotional price from the Groupon Website.The price after promotion is considered cheap as a steamboat buffet.The service of the restaurant is good.Whenever you need anything, there would be staff attending you.In addition, there is a variety of choices of food and sauce available, and in large quantity too.We ordered “yun yong” soup – chicken soup & tom yam soup.However, I find the soup tastes normal. Moreover, the crabs here are not fresh and taste weird-.-

BBQ Steamboat BuffetUmami Steamboat is located around sunway mentari where it is a stiff competition as there is almost a steamboat restaurant every few blocks away. Umami offers a wide variety of soup from the very basic chicken soup, hot pepper, herbal, fish, tomyam, and umami special.The seafood here is fresh and does taste good especially with the already well tasting soup and the fresh meat open up my appetite.Beside the uncook, there are also a wide variety of cook dishes like assorted fried seafood ball, fried rice, stir fried vegetable which is different from day to day basis.There are also a wide variety of grilled / BBQ dish if all above still doesn't make you drool. They are all equally delicious and with the price of RM26.90 all inclusive, it is a privilege to have free drink and ice cream and dessert toward the end of my meal. One very CRITICAL issue here is the hygiene, there are a LOT of flies and the effort to clear them off is not there.

It was another typical steamboat stall we decided to try out! I went with total 20 person including me. Umami offers a huge variety of foods, I think overall was normal, but acceptable. What i like the most is the 'deep fried food station'. Not only steamboat, they also have grilling station located outside the restaurant. You can opt for the healthy version (steamboat) or the not-so-healthy (grill) version to savor your seafood! I found the seafood weren't fresh, at all. Typical pre-packet fish balls, fish cakes, meat balls...Some egg appetizer... With lots of thousand island sauce drizzle on top.. I think this was the only specialty they have The grilling station outside of the restaurant, you can choose anything that you wish to be grilled, and let the waiter serve you!I think overall , the restaurant was just average.

We picked white tomyum and herbal chicken soup. Nothing much special with the soup though. Unlike some steamboat places where you have to scoop chicken wings with plates like hungry wolves, here you just place your order of fried or grilled wings, they will send it to your table. Fried wings are a bit too salty and the grilled ones are so dry like overgrilled. I prefer the fried ones.To be honest, we are terrible at steamboat buffet. Cuz we don't eat shellfish and lazy to eat crabs and prawns (I tried one small crab claw but it's not fresh). So we will just eat lots of mushrooms and veggies and fishballs and colorful icecreams. The desserts section needs to be improved though, they only have some tired sliced fruits and a very red jelly. They have a cooked food, fried stuff and grilled stuff table too. Oh the fried rice are the tastiest! I ate them with gravy from sweet sour crabs. Yummy! Drinks are included. I feel that the place is quite deserted for a all-u-can- eat steamboat place but maybe because it's a Wednesday. It's okay for me though, it's feels like having the place only to ourselves

Umami Steamboat is this restaurant serving an "all you can eat" steamboat buffet located nearby Sunway Pyramid over in Sunway Mentari. Prior to reaching this eating spot, I did notice that the whole area do have a lot of steamboat restaurants, and with stiff competition we know that the food served are bound to be good. My guess is the price of only RM26.80+ for an adult really attracted the masses, with food that is worth way more than what you're paying for. I'll elaborate more on the extensive menu and food available here, be it the raw fresh seafood, or the various grilled menu. The environment was rather comfortable, a class higher than your average steamboat restaurant.Having a group of friends all huddled over a piping hot pot of steamboat, with fresh seafood ready to be cooked is an experience in itself. The feeling of togetherness, especially when we were jostling to cook the food is second to none. Do check out the below for the food available every night at Umami Steamboat Restaurant. On top of the raw seafood ready to be cooked in our steamboat pots, there was a special corner serving grilled food which took my fancy since it smelt really good the moment we arrived at Umami Steamboat. We have the obligatory chicken dishes, satays, and even grilled fish and crabs! There you have it, we were spoilt for choices, and at an affordable price of RM26.80+ per person, one could come here and "eat all you can" without hurting the wallet. There is even an ongoing "Buy 2 Free 1" promotion going on currently, perfect for those coming in groups.
