Tong Kee Brothers Confectionery (棠记兄弟饼家) was founded by the Hoong family during the 1960s and was well established in 1970. It now already have a number of branches within Klang Valley and their headquarter is in Pudu, Kuala Lumpur. Most of the people around Kuala Lumpur are familiar with Tong Kee's mouth watering egg tart of flaky pastry and eggy custard. One of the branch is located in Taman Connaught, Cheras. Upon entering the shop, I am attracted by the smell of freshly baked bread and the colourful pastries and cakes glowing from a bright showcase. The pastries here are "non halal" as they used lards, bacons and hams. I have decided to have some of their buns as my lunch. I have bought Butter Bun, Hotdog Roll, Char Siew Bun and Kaya Puff. All the bun are soft and the ingredients used are fresh. As for the Kaya Puff, the pastry is very crispy, the kaya portion is just nice and is more solid type.

tong kee is well famous of their egg tart and also the fresh pastries. here can get the fresh bread, tarts and also now they are good in making fresh cakes. i find this item of the yam tarts is very delicious and nice to have this for tea break.the price is slightly expensive. the tong kee is well known since year 1977 and surprisingly this yam tart is full of yam aroma and taste good
tong kee have fresh bread and tarts. never know they have pastries beside that is the cakes choices. surprisingly and i choose to buy this tiramisu cake for my mum birthdays. the cake is average size just nice for the small family and the strawberry topping is nice decorated. the tiramisu cake is fresh, coffee was spread on top and the inside is the layer of the tiramisu creamy part and the cake is very soft. strawberry is not sweet enough and the price of the cake is just rm 39. good try ,. service is nice here too
Tong Kee Bread & Tarts @ Sri Petaling. very famous brand since 1970. the pastries is special and fresh made from the kitchen. always long queue and almost in every outlet business is very good. the service is fast and they baked daily fresh pastries and egg tarts. egg tarts is the most selling fast item here and people queue all mostly are hunting for the egg tarts. the egg tarts is smooth nice and the size is from small to average. small is price at 1.20 and bigger is RM 1.50. very nice taste and the siu pau is another good choice. bbq pork inside and each bite is crispy and really wanted for more.
Tong Kee Bread & Tarts sells very delicious cakes besides the awesome bread. Sometimes, it is quite crowded and you will find a long queue.
This black forest cake has quite simple decoration with dark and white chocolates around it and big sweet strawberries on top of it. It is a bit sweet with the cherries in each layer. I personally like this cake because it is very spongy and there is very less whipped cream in each layer.
I don't really fancy about bread but today I just bump into this bread shop because of the unique shop name- bread & tarts. Mom insists to go in to have a look. The environment is nice, very comfortable when walk inside. The most attractive place is the cakes, so colourful with some light tricks. We bought some bread and tarts of course (the shop name has stated tarts for sure have to try it!). So, I just found out that this shop I have visited is actually quite famous of its tarts after mention by my brother. Whoa.. I slightly missed it if not for mom who draw me back.
Egg tarts have been a favorite of mine ever since I was young. My mum used to get fresh egg tarts from Tong Kee's Pudu branch for tea time and I would wolf down the egg tart. Tong Kee's egg custard is soft, creamy and very velvety while the outer layer is fluffy and flaky. When you bite into it , you can see those layers packed into the crust. Whenever I open the box, the fragrant smell of the egg custard would fill the whole room. These egg tarts are meant to be savored when still warm.
