Stinky Lunch Smile Jan 21, 2016

Now don't get me wrong when I mentioned stinky, that's because of their badly managed ventilation of the kitchen. Our clothes often comes with cooking smell right after we have our lunch at this place but we would still return for the affordable yet tasty and good set lunches.

Today I tried something different, the ikan pantai set. We waited for a bit as the fried fish was fried on the spot after orders were taken. The set lunch came with a choice of either hot or cold lemon tea. The meal itself comes with a piece of omelette, probably half a quarter of a typical round omelette, fried fish and their homemade sauce. The set costs me about RM 10.50.

Since the dish was prepared on this spot, it came piping hot. That's what I like most about food. It was fragrant couples with their homemade sauce (resembles those of Thai and Malay sambal but on a more watery base) it was really good. The egg was average and the portion was really too small.

The glutton colleague of mine even ordered their chicken sandwich. It was toasted with some pineapples, vegetables and chicken. It was quite good as well, with the crunchy crust and yummy fillings. Will return again soon and hopefully they have sorted out their kitchen air ventilation by then.

Porky Feast Smile Jan 18, 2016

It's the porky feast! Ever since we came back from Bali, we really missed the tasty and finger licking good pork ribs in Bali. We were really thrilled when we heard about this restaurant in Desa Sri Hartamas.

Now don't be be confused with the other Naughty Babe Dirty Duck restaurant as they are not the same. The place is just directly behind Brick and Barrels.

To secure a table, it's best to come early or make reservations before that in order to avoid dissapointment. When we arrived their staffs are seen dancing to a song. It was their martini or any house signature cocktail drink where a 'Shake shake' dance will be performed and drinks will be served after that. Taste wise, it was normal. Guess that's one of their gimmick to attract the diner's attention.

As for their pork ribs, it was quite good. Juicy and tender without the porky smell (what I fear most), leaves me craving for more. But it doesn't taste the same as the one we had in Bali, perhaps it was tailored to Malaysian's taste.

The grilled hogged sausage platter was decent but there nothing too great. Will be best to paired with beer though.

Take IT Easy Smile Jan 18, 2016

Never underestimate the influence of social media, as everything can go viral with one click these days. Being one of the highly talked about café in town, we were attracted by its light bulb fruit juices. Quirky and unique, we made our way to Kepong.

The café is located at Bandar Manjalara, nearby Tesco Hypermarket within the ground floor of Wisma Fiamma to be precise. From what I heard, the staff’s service was pretty bad, perhaps due to the lack of experience in handling huge amount of customers since they are on the “must visit café list” recently. There is also a bakery next to it which serves a variety of bread choices, owned by the same owner. So many choices to choose from, we were so excited.

When our juice arrives, everyone was so busy with taking pictures that they have forgotten to taste it. In fact, the juice was really fresh and cooling since it was placed in a cold water immersion to maintain its coldness. As for our meal, it tasted great. Comes with a large portion of sautéed mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, hash brown, bread and salad, it was so filling enough to last us throughout the day.

The fifth. Smile Jan 15, 2016

The Rama V Thai Restaurant has been in KL for awhile. Famous for its premium Thai food dining with good atmosphere, we decided to celebrate a friend's birthday at the restaurant.

For the benefit of those who aren't familiar with the KL city road, you could waze your way there or if you are heading to Jalan Imbi area using Jalan Tun Razak, I'm sure you will pass by this Daimler Show Room on your left, just across the road before you reach Prince Court Medical Hospital. Turn left in before the show room and Rama V will be on your right. It is located in an old but classy white Banglow.

When you step in, you will notice there is a small pond right outside the air conditioned restaurant. Separated by a glass window and door, you can actually walk out and there are some smaller huts for both 10 pax or even 2 pax. The sight of the lily flowers are so pretty as well.

As for food, we had the regular tom yam (white based), stir fry brinjal, kangkung with squid as well as prawns. The prawns looks so good and taste even better! It was so fresh, the meat was juicy with roe. Too good.

The Tom Yam on the other hand was normal. The portion was a little small for us as well. Stir fry brinjal is tasty, aromatic and perfect to pair with our rice and dishes.

We ended our meal with a birthday cake and birthday song for our birthday girl!

Chinese and Mexican, I bet you have never had such a combo before. But no, it's not the food but you actually get the option to sit at one same restaurant but you get two different menus. One from the Chinese Dim Sum and Stir Fry noodles and fried rice, one from the Mexican food like tapas and tortillas.

If you have ever been to Avenue K, this restaurant is located near the side entrance, right opposite The Library Cafe and Bar. Just few steps away from Cotton On.

The interior of the restaurant is pretty unique, reminds us a little of Delicious with the empty bird cages hanging. But this is more towards the classy and elegant as it has darker lightnings than Delicious.

Since we get a choice to order from both sides, we ordered some dim sum and tapas. The dim sum was quite good, prawn dumplings were pretty fresh and big in portion with the right amount of springiness. The best is its a pork free dim sum restaurant!

As for the Mexican food, it wasn't bad but it wasn't that great either. Portion is definitely small but it can be quite filling once you had a few plates of the tortilla and tapas plus the dim sum, we left the place with a happy tummy.
