Itallian OK Jan 21, 2016

It's Itallian tonight! It's been awhile since we had pasta and tonight I was craving for a good one, so we made to the famous enorme Itallian restaurant.

I was so excited to order the squid ink pasta as it is one of my favorite Itallian food. But it was a major letdown. The best I had was at Verona at section 17. Will blog about that the next time.

As for enorme's, at RM 37 the price wasn't worth it. Yes the pasta portion is big enough to be shared among two girls but I could hardly find any squid in there. Only a handful of them. Taste wise it was okay, but not great. It was in fact quite bland.

We also ordered the clam in garlic and onion soup. Couldn't recall the exact Itallian name but boy oh boy, it was addictive. The clam was quite fresh and fleshy, with every bite you could feel the juice and the soup was really flavourful. I just can't help asking for more. The broth comes with a lot of garlic as well. So yummy and filling for our hungry tummies.

Hits and misses but perhaps the next round we will return to try their pizza instead.

Chinese and Mexican, I bet you have never had such a combo before. But no, it's not the food but you actually get the option to sit at one same restaurant but you get two different menus. One from the Chinese Dim Sum and Stir Fry noodles and fried rice, one from the Mexican food like tapas and tortillas.

If you have ever been to Avenue K, this restaurant is located near the side entrance, right opposite The Library Cafe and Bar. Just few steps away from Cotton On.

The interior of the restaurant is pretty unique, reminds us a little of Delicious with the empty bird cages hanging. But this is more towards the classy and elegant as it has darker lightnings than Delicious.

Since we get a choice to order from both sides, we ordered some dim sum and tapas. The dim sum was quite good, prawn dumplings were pretty fresh and big in portion with the right amount of springiness. The best is its a pork free dim sum restaurant!

As for the Mexican food, it wasn't bad but it wasn't that great either. Portion is definitely small but it can be quite filling once you had a few plates of the tortilla and tapas plus the dim sum, we left the place with a happy tummy.

Quiet little cafe. OK Jan 13, 2016

It was quite some time back since we visited this little cafe. But to our surprise, it was so quiet even on a Saturday night.

It is highly advisable to come with companions as the parking lot is pretty deserted, especially for girls.

Since it was after dinner, we didn't order any of their mains. We had desserts instead. We tried their green tea, iced latte as well as ice creams!

They no longer serve The Last Polka ice cream though. It is the Cielo Dolci and it was a huge let down. The Rum and Raisin was the worst we ever had. In fact, one of my friend actually thinks that it smells like antibiotic. We had the peppermint chocolate as well. It was fine but we prefer The Last Polka anytime over this brand.

As for the green tea, it was one of the premium selection. Hence it was perfect to help digest our oily stir fried dinner that we had earlier on. The after taste of every sip leaves a fragrant tea leaves taste in our mouth, very much to our liking.

When we head to the loo, we actually passed by their bean roasting place. It was quite interesting to witness them staffs working on roasting the beans. Another eye opener for us.

Overrated. OK Jan 13, 2016

This place is associated with the famous restaurant, The Hill in Bukit Damansara.

Since I haven't been to The Hill before, I couldn't compare their food but having hear so much about them I have decided to give a try at this place in Bandar Utama.

For those of you who have never been, it is located in First Avenue, the building next to One Utama Shopping Mall. But fret not, it is easily accessible via the shopping complex. Just head to Popular Bookstore and you will find the way to the adjoining bridge.

As we arrived, it was pretty deserted as it was only 6PM or so. We had the black squid ink pasta as well as the soft shell crab salad paired with alcoholic drinks.

Truth to be told, we weren't impressed. The pasta tasted a little weird and it was undercooked. There was only four small scallops in it, not worth the price I would say. We had much better pasta else where.

The salad was acceptable though. The soft shell crab was quite crispy but nothing too great to shout about. In our opinion, this place is quite overrated. Not too sure about the Damansara branch, as for this I guess we wouldn't return anytime soon.

Happy Hour OK Jan 13, 2016

Work hard, play even harder. As cliche as it may sound, we do need time to unwind and unload all the stress upon us each and everyday.

So we head straight to Brussels for drinks and dinner. We were really lucky that day as so happen it was a Wednesday night, i.e. Ladies Night! Guess what was on promotion that night, our very favorite beer. The Hoegaarden Rose!

What we like most about the Rose is the light and crisp taste of the beer with a hint of sweetness, making it the perfect drink for ladies. As far as I know, it can only be found in Brussels Beer Cafe. Not too sure if it is being served anywhere else in town.

Since I was pretty hungry, I ordered the sausage with fries as well as the potato skin. The sausage tasted a little weird for me though, perhaps I was not used to the porky smell in it. The wedges was acceptable but nothing great. The garlic bread was in fact a little pathetic as it was quite hard to chew at. As for the potato skin, it was good especially to pair with our beer. Crispy on the outside with the soft potato on the inside, the texture was just nice. The cheese on top makes it even better.
