I'm sure everyone of you would have at least heard of this bakery, or came across it when you shopped at One Utama shopping centre.

Strategically located at the corner, near restaurants like Dave's Deli, Pu Tien, Burger King as well as Isetan's entrance. It is definitely difficult to miss the sight of it.

As I was craving for chocolate filled pastries, I walked in to takeaway their Pain Au Chocolat. As the name suggest, it's originally from France whereby it's a cuboid shaped bread filled with high quality chocolates. The texture was really good, it's puffy and crispy coupled with the melted chocolate, perfecto.

Since my mom is a fan of their pastries as well, I bought her our all time favorite scones from Lavender as well. It was buttery and flavorful with no signs of dryness unlike some harden rock liked scones out there in the market.

To my surprise though when I paid for my breads at the cashier, the condition of the table top was pretty bad. Not a good sight for customers for sure despite the good quality of breads being served.

Perhaps the management should look into it as both the quality of food and interior of the place is important too.

Vietnamese Flair OK Jan 04, 2016

Mediocre. The perfect description of the Vietnamese cuisine here in An Viet.
Since we were craving for Vietnamese food the other day, we head straight to this place as it is newly opened not too long ago. The exterior of the restaurant looks promising with a black and yellow concept with wooden tables. A flip through their menu, it is indeed 90% similar to what Vietnam Kitchen has to offer and we were really eager to try to see if it manage to beat our favorite Vietnamese Restaurant.
We had the drip coffee, fried spring roll, lemon grass pork chop with egg and rice, lemon grass chicken chop with egg and rice as well as the caramelized fish with rice.
We were disappointed. All of their dishes were feather bland in taste, lacking the extra 'oomph' we were expecting for. Both the pork chop and chicken chop ain't that great either, we can barely taste the lemon grass flavour.
The owner of the restaurant was quite nice though. Since its new, she came around to ask us for feedback. We provide our honest feedback. Let's hope the next round if we return there will be improvement in their food quality.

Green Tea Madness OK Dec 29, 2015
Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Ramen/Udon/Soba | Desserts

It's all about green tea. Every single page of the menu, there will be green tea options from food, dessert to beverages. As you can guess, it's a Japanese cuisine.

We had the Salmon Don set which cost approximately RM 21. It comes with a Salmon Don rice with a drink of your choice. I had the matcha latte. The salmon portion is relatively quite good, but the don was too dry for my liking. There isn't enough sauce to pair with the rice. The matcha latte wasn't good either. It was a little bland and too milky.

My friend had one of their signature green tea drink which comes with a green tea ice cream float with three glutinous ball alike. For a green tea lover, it was heavens. The green tea flavour was so strong that it covers almost all the latte taste coupled with the green tea flavoured ice cream, it was gone within minutes for my friend. The glutinous balls were also chewy and tangy.

Interior wise it was a simple and comfortable place to hang out with friends. Staffs were quite attentive and speed was fast. However, patrons will have to pay the bill at the counter itself. Since the restaurant isn't overly spacious, it's highly advisable for them to bring the bill to customers instead of forming a long queue in front of the cashier.

The Quiet Little Corner OK Dec 27, 2015

Categories : Western variety | Café | Pizza/Pasta | Burgers / Sandwiches

We actually stumbled across this café by chance. We were looking for a café to hangout after lunch at Sunway Pyramid. There was also a Starbucks few doors away. In comparison, Starbucks was full house and really packed with café goers. The morning after was rather quiet with only a few tables occupied.

Since we preferred a less crowded place to unwind our already stressful day, it was the perfect spot for us to chill. With a dark interior and wooden tables, coupled with black and white posters and pictures hanged on the wall, it was rather classy and elegant. The temperature of their air conditioned was just nice, cooling enough for the hot weather in Malaysia. Just a point to note though, there were some after smells on our clothing after we left the café. Perhaps it was the ventilation issue, but it didn’t smell that bad in the café itself.

We had their wedges and I ordered the caramel macchiato. The wedges were deep fried, with a subtle hint of pepper taste. It comes along with a small sauce, mayonnaise and cheese which is very similar to the KFC wedges’ sauce. It was crispy and good for a light bite after meal. We had no complaints with our drink either. Perhaps they should advertise more about their whereabouts to attract for patrons in the future.

It's I'm Spicy again! OK Dec 27, 2015   (Related Review)

Categories : Thai | Restaurant | Steaks / Chops | Seafood | Noodles

This time around we went for lunch instead. As usual, it is already packed and full house by the time we reached about 1.30 in the afternoon. But still, luckily enough we manage to grab a table for ourselves.

Instead of thai dishes and rice, one can actually opt for their ala carte which is only served during lunch time. On average, the ala carte costs about less than RM 20 per servings. But mostly it consists of a variety of noodles, from seafood noodles, thai spicy noodles with pork and a few more other choices. As for rice, they have only two options which is the stewed pork leg with rice and the green curry chicken with rice.

This time around I had the green curry chicken with rice. The portion is just nice, not too small nor too big either. Taste wise, it was a bit bland though, compared to the green curry chicken we had in Absolute Thai. The curry is not spicy at all, and the gravy was rather watery. The chicken meats were tender but nothing great to shout about.

And of course we had their signature house drinks in a jug (RM 18). As usual, it is refreshing with the crushed mint leaves and pandan water. Nevertheless, we still enjoy our meal here as always.
