This is always our to go place for lunch whenever we run of ideas. Typical dilemma each and everyone of us faces almost everyday. 'What are we having for lunch?' And the answer will be 'I've no idea'.

This place is always crowded and packed with people. Despite its small area, it is located in front of the sushi shop at the lowest floor, the table turnaround time is usually quite fast. Perfect for working adults who only have one hour lunch break. It is also easily accessible via train. Just take the putra lrt and alight at KLCC station. 

Instead of their famous nasi lemak ayam berempah that I usually order, today I've decided to try something new instead. Roti Jala with Curry Chicken. Huge disappointment.

The minute the food was served, it looks really bad. The roti jala was so soggy and oily and the curry chicken looks more like a diluted tomato chicken.

One bite and we have decided to not ever order this dish again. The curry chicken tasted sweet instead of spicy and it was really bland. Not a slight hint of curry in it. The roti jala was so soggy and soft. A major turnoff and it cost me RM11.5 before gst. It would be better off to pay extra 2 bucks for a decent nasi lemak ayam berempah instead.

Lessons learnt. Better to just opt for their signature nasi lemak the next time we visit again.

So it's Friday long lunch again and we head to Sunway Putra Mall. Being a regular we were running out of ideas of where to dine in and we were along the highest top floor, named as the Selera Street if I'm not mistaken with tons of restaurants around.

We were passing by the famous Lorong Seratus Tahun when we were attracted by this banner. Chicken rice set in bamboo shoot. Sounds interesting yes?

So we sat only to find out that it was sold out. So fast. Fine then we opt for other set lunches which costs approximately RM15 per head inclusive of a drink. Probably another one or two bucks more to include gst charges.

There were quite a number of selections to choose from, chicken nyonya set, fried chicken 'berempah' set and myself had the stingray rice set. One may have to come earlier though to have more choices as another set was sold out too. Think they were trying to limit their quantity produced in order to minimize costs?

I was pretty skeptical at first as it isn't easy to find good sting rays dishes outside in restaurants. When it came, it was wrapped in foil paper. Once opened the heat was oozing out and I can smell whole lots of tomatoes and I was right. The sauce is more to the sweetness less spicy and sourish. Perhaps adding lime will make it better.

Thankfully the fish has got no fishy taste as I learned that good quality ones shouldn't have those fishy taste. There were lady fingers added in as well. 

Overall it wasn't too bad but still lacking the oomph.

After a whole lot of sinful and never ending meaty meal during the Chinese New Year holidays we were craving for more healthy and less meaty options.

And the first healthy food that came into our mind is Pho Hoa. As far as I heard it's a franchise from overseas and they have outlets in Malaysia yet they are not very famous and crowded compared to Vietnam Kitchen.

So we had their signature noodles I.e. Vermicelli with grilled chicken and prawns. The noodles comes with a hefty lots of vegetables. Lettuce, bean sprout, carrots and lots more. It's a dry noodle where you need to pour in their sauce in it. Their sauce tasted like Thai chilli sauce with a bit of spicy and sour making it so apetitizing. I personally think if we add in some ground nuts it will be even better!

As for the grilled chicken rice it was pretty normal. White rice with grilled chicken meat but the meat was juicy and marinated to perfection. Not too dry with the right amount of texture. Perfecto.

Dad had their Vietnamese Drip Coffee too. The waiter was quite nice to offer if he wants to add on more hot water to the drip so he could have more despite the fact that the water might be diluted though. Anyhow you rarely get such an offer from other Vietnamaese Restaurant. Kudos to the friendly staff!

Chocolate cravings 

It was a Saturday night and the kids were craving for dessert. Yes both the big kids and the small ones.

We went to The Curve, spent some time at the Kids Zone with free indoor playground before heading to Dip & Dip and E curve. Or to be precise, right entire E curve there is a walkway joining the two The Curbe and the E curve on the second floor directly above Coffea Coffee.

It was quite packed on a Saturdsy night but we still manage to grab a table. We were pretty full from dinner so we only ordered one pancake and one crepe.

The pancake comes with four pieces with chocolate sauce and some whipping cream. While the crepe was sliced like noodles and the waiter will come and poured the chocolate sauce on top in front of you. Sort of like a mini show I guess. Kids were really happy to watch the drizzling and oozing chocolate sauces!

Taste wise, the pancake was pretty bland. You might need to dip in quite a lot of chocolate. Comes with a few strawberries too.

Crepe is fine and it comes with a Vanilla ice cream as well. One may find its a bit tad too sweet but well you can't really find unsweetened ones unless it's dark cocoa. So once in a while of sinful indulgence is fine I guess.

We ordered two glasses of ice lemon tea too and the bill came up to a whopping RM 70 bucks. We were surprised and taken aback. The price is indeed on the high side. Blue moon kind of splurge I guess.

It's New Paris again! OK Feb 28, 2016

Whenever we run out of ideas to dine, my family will head straight to New Paris as it is near our place.
To be honest, the food wasn't that good to shout about but it wasn't bad either. And for the price we are paying, it is consider as cheap among all other local Chinese Restaurants.
Since uncle is back in town for new year, we brought them to this place for dinner. We did not opt for their typical menu but proceed to order ala crate dishes.
We had Pork Ribs, Stir Fry squid with long beans, Taufoo clay pot, Vegetables with garlic and a butter prawn. Not forgetting their signature dish, the watermelon chicken.
For those who have never been, the watermelon chicken may look interesting. The flesh will be shaped into a ball like watermelon perfect for dessert after meal. The chicken itself tasted sweet with a slight hint of sourish. Some may find the taste weird some may like it depending on your preference.
The stir fry squid was pretty good too. With lots of onions and some Thai alike sauce, so appetizing with lots of long beans. All in all we still enjoyed our dinner at a reasonable price.
