Today is my father's birthday. Since I wanted to go to Midvalley to get some cards for office clients, I was busy searching where can we have our lunch in Midvalley since I have tried all the food there. Finally, I saw there is a new sushi place called Sushi Jiro at the second floor. There was an Avengers exhibition at the ground floor too. The main reason we came was today is the last day of its Opening Promotion of RM 2.99 off any item on the conveyor belt. Starting 20 April, the rate will be
I attacked all the sashimi dishes especially the salmon and maguro. I tried searching for Maguro Avocado but only saw plain maguro sashimi or sushi or just avocado with sushi. I think I have never eaten so much sushi ever since Sushi King's RM 2 or 3 promo during my uni days. We ordered almost 3 plates of crab meat sushi. I had a great time picking all the raw octopus, salmon, maguro, abalone, jellyfish, wet seaweed and scallops. The Salmon Mentaiko is also not bad. My favourites are the Tako Wasabi and also the Chuka. I also liked the glistening Spicy Salmon which is not found in Sushi King and Sakae Sushi.
The Chicken Tsukune which is steamed chicken with sushi rice was also not that bad for those people who do not like raw fish.
The Ikura and Fish Roe sushi are also great pairing.
My parents tried the Edaname which I did not have the chance to try.
I like the grilled scallops which were also delicious.
The mini and smooth Mushroom Chawanmushi is refreshing for the soul. Of course we cannot compare it to Sushi King or Sakae Sushi where this comes with steamed chicken, fishcake and shitake mushroom and some even fake shark's fin. But quite delicious too.
Another difference here is that it is mostly just solely conveyor belt sushi so there are no set lunches available. So the only hot items here are just udon and ramen in soup which took such a long time to arrive. Our Kake Udon (RM 9.90) took 30 minutes to arrive while it only contains spring onions, a little seaweed and 1 miserable piece of Japanese rice cake.
The tea is quite cheap at only RM 1 per cup regardless of cold and hot tea. The fast food concept of convenience is so much practised that there are 2 jugs of hot and cold tea on every table, perhaps to also save the workers' time from walking to and fro just to serve tea.
