continue reading

continue reading

Returning to Simply Mel's to sample more mouthwatering marvels from its voluminous menu.Vivid colors inform the vibrant flavors of Mel's recipes, embodied in onion-filled fritters that might leave some folks feeling stuffed at the very start of the meal.Fish is favored here, with something new to try for each visit. Love the white pomfret simmered in sourish "singgang" curry, a lip-smacking way to enjoy this smooth fish.Squid in Malaccan Portuguese Debel Curry, a tongue-scorching treat for chili-craving customers.Mel scrapes out the savory black insides of 'buah keluak' to make a convenient prawn sambal, amazingly addictive but probably crazily calorie-loaded.Seccu curry, another super-spicy one, this time with slices of tender beef.Counter the creamy curries with nourishing soups, like this bowl with meatballs made of corned beef & chicken, supplemented with stewed carrots, cabbage, macaroni & potatoes, scented with cinnamon & cloves. We love the name for this one, "foler sabola kung tao." Fundamentally a simple preparation of stir-fried spring onions with tau kwa bean curd in garlic sauce. continue reading

Without going out to the heart of KL to reach Malacca I just can have Malacca Portuguese Cuisine nearby my office. Simply Mel's offers Malacca Portuguese Cuisine and as I flip through the menu they have many varieties to choose from they even have set lunch.Ordered Ayam pongteh set for my lunch it comes with free appetizer which is a ball of fired cincalok it taste good! It also comes with a plain white rice, vegies ( cabbage), omelette and not forgetting the chili sauce. For the ayam pongteh it comes in small portion I have 3 slices of potatoes and consider a the chicken drumstick is serve half. Although the food taste nice but the portion was too little and is kinda pricey. This meal cost RM 14++ continue reading

Moving on to more simpler dishes, we had French Beans (RM 9.90), stir fried with egg and tofu. Nothing too special or fancy here; but definitely a great way to balance out all the spice we were having that night. The beans were fresh and very crunchy, and the carrots were cooked to a comforting level of softness. The egg and tofu were a great addition as well, adding to the overall flavour of the dish. It's a simple dish at best, but one that was a favourite around the table. We order this every time we go back and every time it gets mopped up quickly. For once, one of the few things on the menu at Simply Mel's that doesn't need to be accompanied with a gallon of water! continue reading
