I am usually a fan of Chicken Gordon Bleu, I really like the cheese inside the chicken meat with some extra sauce on top. However, the Chicken Gordon Bleu here was really dry and hard. The crust itself and the meat was dry. As much as it was cut into bite size portions, it was still pretty hard to chew. However, the mash potatoes and baked beans were pretty okay, nothing bad about them.

This was actually a trial and error dish. The dish looked rather beautiful at first sight however, it wasn't exactly that great. The spaghetti is cooked with chili padi and olive oil (I guess there was the experimenting going on). I quite like the spiciness but it has to have more. It was rather bland on this dish but then agian, they were experimenting. On the other hand, the chicken was cooked quite nicely whilst maintaining a herbally flavour.

Who doesn't love pizza? The cheese, the tomato bolognese sauce, the crust, all of it binded together as one. This pizza was actually supervised by a real Italian owner when it was being prepared. The chef had a 8 year Italian cuisine experience. I really like the thickness of the crust, it wasn't too thin nor too thick and best of all, it was consistent. The only thing that I find lacking was the amount of tomato bolognese sauce. I wished that there was more to give it that extra flavour. Cheese

I really enjoy feasting on juicy, tomato and cheese filled lasagna. Kinda gives the punch I need. This plate of lasagna was pretty okay. It was actually too thick and creamy for me, if only they were to add more tomato instead of cheese then it would be more to my liking. Besides that, some additional seasoning would also help because it was a little too bland for me. But overall, there are room for improvements.

This plate of truffle oil pasta is one of the most satisfying plate of pasta I've ever tried. The truffle scent was so aromatic that it filled the room so warmly. This plate of pasta was served in a simple manner, just truffle oil with cream, pasta and some garnishes. However, as simple as it may sound, it smell and taste amazing. Furthermore, the chef only used 2-3 drops of truffle oil to produce this plate of pure awesomeness!

The grilled skin isn't oily as it looks as the lemon orange sauce is marinated on to the chicken overnight, so all the flavors and essence were already infused into the meat itself.

Chicken Cordon Bleu

I love chicken cordon bleu but I'm afraid to say this dish dissapointed me alot :/ It looks great and fun because they cut the meat into pieces so you'd eat them easilly - basically bite-sized pieces. The crust is thick and hard, unfortunately. And despite so, the chicken breast meat remains hard while the cheese appears practially non-existent. Not even worth to take a second bite. The mashed potatoes and baked beans were yummy though. I liked how they shaped their mashed potatoes to be so.. cylindrical LOL.

Margherita - RM9This has got to be the most cheesiest pizza I've ever engulfed on. So Gusto Giusto has some really aunthentic pizzas, and they don't serve you mainstream ones like Classic Hawaiian or Pepperoni because apparently those are actually American styled pizzas! It's amazing how this only cost for something less than 10 bucks!

Their cheese is actually Australian cheese, and it's really different from typical ones. From the picture above I think you can imagine how chewy the cheese one. I had a hard time trying to chew off the cheese with each bite I took. Even so, this was a great pizza. I love the crust too. It wasn't too thin and flaky and neither was it too chunky/thick.

Siciliana - RM11

Pizzas are commonly eaten in Sicily but unlike us where we indulge on pizzas as fast food, their pizzas are eaten on the streets from roadside stalls. Talk about old school.

Anyway, this Siciliana pizza actually consisted of anchovies and olives. Like I have mentioned before, their olives are really fresh and didn't have that weird fishy taste like most other have. I guess it's because they used canned olives, which are left to dry first before using it to cook with the pizza. I love anchovies but I couldn't taste the anchovies here
They claimed that it was due to the fact that there were people complaining that the anchovies was too salty.

GG Special

This is their special pizza of the day, that the chef specially cooked up for us! Even the owner didn't know how it tasted like since this is the first time they tried it and had us be the first timers to give a comment about it. Overall I quite liked it, the entire pizza felt like something where you'd throw up all the ingredients and mash it over with cheese and bake it, and tadaa. There you go.

Pizza contained beef and chicken meat, mushrooms, olives, capsicums and anchovies. Love the addition of capsicums because they were really crunchy to be eaten. Still needs more anchovies in here!!

Chicken Lasagna - RM14

This lasagna scared me abit when it arrived O.O It looks pretty tiny and small but the pasta layer is soooo thick and creamy. The cheese was also very overwhelming and by my third bite I was already feeling quite satiated! I don't know if its a bad thing or what because I know everyone has different wants and some might like this to be super cheesy but I like when mine has a more toned down flavor. I'm glad that the amount of cheese here is generous, but their bolognese sauce needs to be thicker to accommodate and balance both flavors.

I have to admit though, that their pasta didn't feel authentically Italian at my first try. Spaghetti Bolognese (Beef) - RM8

Typically similar to their chicken bolognese, the beef pasta was more preferrable for me. The bf complained that the beef meat was too salty but I love salty stuff so no complains here. I also love that herbs used in this dish was more vigarous and tenacious that the smell of the bolognese strong was stronger. Great pasta for such a cheap price!

Spaghetti Frutti Di Mare - RM12

Frutti Di Mare is actually translated to 'fruits from the sea' in Italian. They don't call it seafood in Italy, hence the indirect tense of sentence used. For 12 bucks this was considered mega affordable - I mean, there's even mussels, shrimps and squids here! It's all the combo of seafood you can get in one plate, filled with creamy carbonara sauce and a sprinkle of parmesan cheese.

Spaghetti Tartufona - RM20

Probably Gusto Giusto's priciest dish! Served with only truffle base cream sauce and nothing else, this pasta completely wow-ed all of us when it was served because it was so aromatically strong. We were even taken aback by the fact that there wasn't any truffles used here.. only truffle oil. I'm very amazed at how a few teaspoons of truffle oil can create a mind-blowing dish like this. Cooked with milk cream and garlic, the end result is a beautiful and savory pasta that instantly melts in your mouth.

It didn't had a bad and overwhelming weird taste, so it was so enjoyable to chew on them.

This is also my first time having buffalo mozzarella, which was okay I guess. Couldn't taste much, but I do enjoy the sundried tomatoes. Felt like I was eating tomato-flavored raisins haha.

Nasi Sicily - RM10

Hahaha I really loved how they incorporated Malaysian names into their food. It makes things a whole lot easier to understand and imagine when you're anticipating it from the menu alone.

Sicily is actually a town in Italy which was famous for having this, particularly at the streets. Have to admit that this is the first for me to see a dish like this. It looked like a really cute orange since it was shaped like one. Served with bolognese sauce, the crust of the round ball (haha) was deep fried with bread crumbs - providing an extra boost of crunchy skin. The sticky rice also has a center filling of mozarella cheese, which gives a nice chewy texture to the components overall.

The area here is known to draw in the considerable lunch crowd of the working class during working days but known to be like a ghost town during weekends hence coming on a Saturday or an hour where the lunch crowd has dispersed is best.

Gusto Giusto is an establishment that serves authentic Italian food and uses key ingredients imported from Italy but some things are fine tuned a little to suit the Malaysian taste. Interestingly, the prices on Gusto Giusto's menu are very affordable unlike the usual Italian Restaurants that you usually find in Malaysia where a serving for 2 persons already rack up to more than RM50. But be warned though, there's no alcohol nor pork served here.

Let's not ramble on further and proceed to see what we had on that fateful day.
Started off with Antipasto as an appetizer:

The warm hosts of the place even served to us a special Antipasto for us to try which is with Sun Dried Tomatoes and Buffalo Mozzarella:

The special version that they served us is more towards my liking. The Sun Dried Tomatoes were nice and sweet but not too sweet. The olives were surprisingly pleasant to me. Usually, I don't like olives because of a very strong queer sweet olive taste to it hence I usually take out the olives from pizzas if I see them but this one doesn't give out that strong taste. It still taste like olives and it's sweetness but it's like a milder version of it and goes well with the dishes that were served in. The Buffalo Mozzarella taste like a milkier version of Mozzarella and less cheesiness to it.

Another appetizer served is a delicacy available only in Italy. And even so, it's merely found in Sicily. Over here they called it Nasi Sicily but really, it's Arancini:

Arancini are Fried Rice Balls with breadcrumbs as the outer layer. Something unique to me that I've never tasted before. A crispy breadcrumb outer layer with rice inside and some Parmesan Cheese at the top with some tomato sauce and some Ragù meat sauce in it, I believe. Also some Buffalo Mozzarella and peas in it. Basically, the main taste is the breadcrumb taste followed by the rice taste.

We later carried on with the Pastas.
Our first serving was the Spaghetti Bolognese both the Chicken and Beef variation:

Can't taste much of the meat after all it's minced but I do taste a good load of the pasta along with the sauce. The spaghetti was cooked right. Very soft and tender and nice to the taste buds. The sauce is not too overwhelmingly tomato flavor with sweetish taste (which is the reason why most of the time I would pick Carbonara) but just good for me.

Another Spaghetti served is the Spaghetti Frutti di Mare (Seafood):

Well, you see Gusto Giusto decided to introduce this typical Italian food to Malaysian by renaming it the 'Nasi Sicily'. How awesome! Getting anyone to pronounce the real name would be quite mouthful or even hard to remember.

Nasi Sicily is an unforgettable delight, attributed to the chef’s creative marriage of the common ingredients such as sticky rice, beef/chicken, mozzarella cheese and bolognese meat sauce too. Although it's served as an appetizer in the menu but I found this quite filling, may even be an excellent choice as a kid's meal due the attractive looking cute little round shape. Price @ RM 10

The Siciliana was a pizza of crispy crust with fresh tomato sauce, anchovies, olives and sprinkled with generous toppings of mozzarella cheese before being baked till golden brown. The pizza was flavoured from the fishy anchovies, but would have been nicer with more olives too.

One of the co-owner, Mr Devan further explained that pizza from Italian usually with toppings of tomato sauce, mozzarella and herbs. Sometimes, they may add some ham, olives, anchovies, tuna and minced pork/chicken. Unlike those pizza that have been Americanise by Domino's or Pizza Hut, nothing short of beef pepperoni, beef salami, pineapple, sausages among others.

The crispy pastry filled with generous amount of cheese that was baked to perfection to a perfect crunch. Loved it especially when this was served piping hot, warm to bite, with a perfectly crisp exterior and just the right amount sauce and toppings.

Mr Devan makes sure that his patrons get generous portions when they dine here, and says that they really interested only in serving real authentic and value for money Italian dishes. For personalized service and reasonable prices, do drop by or come to Gusto Giusto, the little pizza and pasta heaven in Shah Alam!
