Attempts at Asian fusion cooking can often stir up dining disasters, but this casual cafe is bucking that trend with its creative culinary choices. Penang-inspired produce: 46th Rangoon Street laksa _ slippery, slurp-worthy noodles soaked in a remarkably flavorsome curry broth brimming with shredded chicken, prawns, beansprouts, tofu pok & crispy bean curd skin.

But not everything here is a smash hit; the fish & chips with tomato lime sambal are as forgettable as a food court offering. Still, it's impressive that Entree keeps prices low; set lunches hover around RM10, while a filling dinner could easily dip below RM30 per person.

Ipoh white coffee & tea-coffee combos are also available.

Being optimistic: Entree could fare fairly well, despite Damansara Uptown's parking woes & worrisome competition among the neighborhood's galaxy of eateries.

Entree's (pork-free) menu features only two desserts, but both are intriguing enough to try. Deep-fried California plums with gula melaka reduction? A little too sourish for our liking, though the vanilla ice cream manages to take some of the edge off it.

Jack fruit spring rolls with apricot coulis. Something that grandparents would probably adore, since it kinda tastes like a traditional crispy street snack.

Wine isn't listed on the menu, but ask & you will receive. Entree supplies delicious South African varieties nicely priced at RM18+ by the glass. Service is reassuringly prompt & friendly.

Opened on November 2011, Entree Cafe (pronounced /anh-tray/) that serves nice Asian fusion food (pork-free) is located in Damansara Utama Petaling Jaya. The restaurant is very easy to spot for its big black color signboard. However, parking in Damansara Utama is usually headache especially during weekdays' working hours, so do expect some walking distance from your parking bay. Entree Cafe's interior is simple and neat with air-conditioning. I like the interesting mural that's on their big light green color main wall to compliment the hung attractive food photos. The cafe is operated by the friendly pair of husband and wife who passion to cook and enjoy to explore good food.

I had their well worth slurping up signature classic Famous 46th Rangoon Street Laksa that was 9.80 Ringgit Malaysia per bowl. It was served with prawn, shredded chicken, crispy bean curd skin, tofu pok, bean sprout and smooth silky pan mee style of noodle in my liking thick creamy curry broth. The spiciness of mild curry broth is at my acceptance level with remarkably flavor. For extra info, Rangoon or normally know as Yangon is the capital city of Burma or Myanmar.

To end my meal, I had the Deep Fried Jackfruit Spring Roll with Passion Fruit Coulis and Ice Cream. Chef deep fried the spring roll that stuffed with real sliced jackfruit till crispy and golden brown outside. Served while hot so eat it together with the vanilla flavor ice cream is wonderful combination. The fragrance passion fruit coulis enhanced the whole dessert experience by giving it different layer of texture and taste.

I like Entree Cafe's concept here that great food is to share over meals with people you love. Their fusion of hearty meals is ranging from refreshing appetizers, entrees and luscious desserts. I shall definitely come back here to indulge more good food!

We had the Assam Pedas Prawns On Toast (RM10.80/5pcs), Sweet & Sour Fish Mantau, Beef Lemongrass Shooters (RM8.80/3pcs), and the Romaine Thai Chicken Salad (RM8.80/5pcs). My favourite here will be the beef balls as it came in this cute small cups and tastes really good and juicy with the sauce. I could stuff myself with these entree dishes just for my dinner alone, but we had more to come.

Now this dish was unique to me, with a curry broth like texture that was unlike any normal curry which was thicker than usual and much more flavorful. Served with Pan Mee type of noodles, I would say this dish does excite our palettes for more scrumptious dishes.

Next up was my all time favourite Malaysian dish, the rendang styled Curry Chicken with rice and "papadam crackers". It is indeed very "lemak" but the taste does beat most of the ones I've had elsewhere. Served with frgrant pandan infused rice, I found myself wanting for more.

I liked the way Entree Cafe comes out with their dishes which were creative, especially the last two dishes. The Coriander Peanut Pesto Stuffed Chicken came with a huge chunk of chicken breast meat doused in brown sauce while the Vegetarian Ratatouille Pasta tasted rather good, with the correct amount of sauce on it. I did not have much of these two dishes as I'm more of a meat person, but Janice likes it though.

Finally the desserts arrived in a trio of sweet stuffs consisting of Deep Fried Jackfruits "Nangka", Mango and Ice Creams. I love the way the jackfruits were prepared and deep fried "popiah" style. This dessert was the perfect ending for a good meal out. So if you are around Damansara Utama area, do drop by this casual cafe for some nicely done fusion type of food.
