我们11人从槟城旅游回去KL,想到经过怡保,就带我爸朋友去吃芽菜鸡,本来是打算试下安记,因为没吃过。但他听说老黄很出名,就试下咯。我们叫了6个位的鸡和猪肉丸和鱼丸。不懂是不是假期人多的关系,我吃到芽菜雞真的很普通,不是说很好吃,反而猪肉丸和鱼丸还不错。结账时吃了RM107。我问我金宝的朋友,他说当地人是不去那边吃的。

We went to Penang for an event so we stopped by Ipoh for the famous tauge chicken rice. We ordered half a white steamed chicken (RM 29.68) that was so soft and silky. I finished every morsel of the chicken because it was so delicious. Ipoh is well known for bean sprouts (RM 6.36) that are fat and fresh. I ate every single bean sprout. Ipoh is well known for bean sprouts (RM 6.36) that are fat and fresh. I ate every single bean sprout. I always like the bean sprouts in Ipoh.

The Fried Char Siew (RM 10.60) was quite ok and crispy. I cannot give a fair review on char siew because I am not a fan of pork.

The Hor Fun Soup (RM 2.12) was silky smooth as any Ipoh hor fun. 

Every plate of chicken rice costs RM 2.12. 

The Gold Plum drink cost about RM 2.

Sometimes I think it's a good idea to take a drive out of the city and into another for a small getaway. It'll be personally good for the soul. Though really I cheat by taking a train down to Ipoh where my friend stays so he can brin me around all the places to get good food. Despite the many other places to eat, we will always go to Lou Wong to get some chicken & tauge.This place is just one of those staple must haves when you are in Ipoh town regardless of whether you like chicken or not. This place is just one of those staple must haves when you are in Ipoh town regardless of whether you like chicken or not. It is crazily packed during school holidays and weekends, so try to go during weekdays to avoid a crowd.

It is of course a no brainer to order the chicken. Since there's only two of us, we'd only order one and a half portion because we usually like to order other things as well. Like always the chicken is always nice and tender with just the right amount of flavour from the sauce which I happily douse my meat in it.

Again, the usual order is a plate of tauge doused in sweet soya sauce and liberal amount of black pepper. I super love eating this and can happily finish an entire plate by myself. So usually we'd order an extra plate just for myself just to enjoy with plain rice.

Another thing that we really like to order is the offal. Basically this is a plate filled with the innards of the chicken - there's the gizzards, liver and heart, all cut up into pieces. We usually like this especially since it comes with the same sauce as the chicken which my friend and I really like. Most people would kinda find this gross but it's actually pretty nice & some parts are even beter for your health than the actual chicken.

No matter what, whenever I am in Ipoh, this is a place I will always visit for some nice chicken and tauge. :3

來到怡保,哪裡可以錯過芽菜雞。這一個芽菜燙得剛剛好,不會太生也不會太軟。口感還是很棒!至於雞肉嗎,他的白斬雞皮和肉一樣滑嫩,好吃。米飯也是粒粒分明。他們有加了一些雞汁所以很甜美。

猪肉丸,当那里的员工问道我们要不要猪肉丸时,或许许久没有吃过了猪肉丸所以就点了一碗来解一下口瘾,一粒粒大颗的猪肉丸,还蛮爽口弹牙的,沾一些辣椒酱味道还挺不错的,让人一粒接一粒吃个不停。

清汤河粉,我觉得这碗清汤河粉是配怡保芽菜鸡的最佳选择,所以我们都点了清汤河粉,一碗热腾腾清汤河粉非常的顺滑,再细品尝他们的清汤而且都是由烫鸡水熬煮出来的,浓郁的鸡味果真够味,我简直一碗是不够呢。

卤鸡脚,我非常喜欢卤水的味道,但同行的朋友不大喜欢所以就点了一个小的,这里的卤鸡脚就做得非常出色,鸡脚卤得非常入味,而且口感柔软滑嫩,味道也刚刚好,不会太咸,还有我非常喜欢那个卤水的味道,非常符合我的口味。

白斩鸡,来到怡保当然要吃这里最老字号的老黄芽菜鸡了,白斩鸡选用的都是怡保自产的白鸡,一上桌时鸡皮油滑而亮,吃下去非常順口但口感却不失嚼劲,撒上了新鲜葱花还有搭配醬汁也不会觉得太咸或太甜。

说到怡保,除了山城之外,也是美食之城...不论在哪里,都能看到怡保正宗芽菜鸡,倘若不是怡保人铁定给骗了...老黄芽菜鸡从我出生就吃到现在,虽然水准差了少许,但还是我喜爱光顾店铺之一.除了鸡以外,芽菜是不可缺少的!

Yucks yucks Yucks.. this is the worst chicken rice I had so far… I wont be going to Lou Wong for chicken rice again… I nearly felt really yucks wif the chicken rice there.. Not much to say, the restaurant is famous among tourist. Here comes the chicken and the rice. Rice is quite normal .. nothing special as it is served with white rice not the chicken rice which is more oily. The chicken is really yucks.. The taste is yucks..as the taste of the chicken is very weird.. we need to drink the water

It is said that a trip to Ipoh is incomplete if one does not visit Restoran Tauge Ayam Lou Wong. Located right smack in the middle of city, the restaurant is quite easy to find. However, brace yourselves for the mass load of people who patron this place. Although customers were many, the table turnover was quite fast, and we found ourselves a table after couple of minutes. were many, the table turnover was quite fast, and we found ourselves a table after couple of minutes. We ordered, and the food came in a jiffy. Wifey wanted the hor fun soup, while I opted for rice. We ordered two persons worth of chicken and beansprouts. The portion was quite big actually, and we struggled to finish it. The rice was warm and fluffy, quite aromatic as well. The hor fun is smooth and silky, sliding down the throat easily. The soup has a slight MSG flavour, but it is expected. The chicken was juicy and tender, very very smooth. I like the beansprouts from this place as it is the short and fat version, not the long and thin ones that we get in KL. Overall, a very good meal, albeit it was sweltering hot during the afternoon sun.

老黄芽菜鸡算是另一个游客景点。有谁不知道到这里吃芽菜鸡一定要找老黄芽菜鸡!他们的鸡肉真的很滑,吃下去除了很有口感以外,还很顺口。我最爱在这里点半只鸡,再配上白饭。好吃!

除了牙菜鸡之外常常都会外加一碗鱼丸或猪肉丸。他们的鱼丸跟猪肉丸都非常的好吃,每一颗都那么的结实,吃起来也非常的弹牙,有嚼劲。没有叫鸡丝河粉的人也可以尝尝他们的汤头的味道。因为盛鱼丸和猪肉丸的汤头跟鸡丝河粉的一样。
