After all the hype, Zouk's foray into The Gardens might seem underwhelming at first; the restaurant and bar look handsome enough but aren't particularly dazzling. It's still worth a visit though. The place is calm and spacious, the staff members are genuinely friendly and the food is reasonably satisfying. The place is calm and spacious, the staff members are genuinely friendly and the food is reasonably satisfying.
Skewers of beef bacon wrapped around wild mushrooms, pimento & cheddar cheese, served with tomato chutney. Juicy and fairly flavourful.
Sesame-crusted tuna grilled with lime & coriander. The slabs of fish could have been fresher, but at least they were thick and succulent. Loved the wasabi aioli dip.
Seared scallops with chilli, mango, pomelo salsa & lemon wedge. Sufficiently meaty, but too ordinary-tasting to really recommend.
Balinese Satay (chicken fillet grilled with lemongrass, tumeric & cumin, served with pickled cucumber, peanut sauce & kicap manis). Tender and well-marinated.
Tofu and shitake mushrooms grilled with ginger, served with pickled radish & miso sauce. Kinda bland, but we're probably biased, since we were never fans of tofu anyway.
Tray of 10 Sex On The Beach shooters. Terrific value for money.
