Ever since I first laid eyes on Kaffa, I have fallen in love with it and I made it a point to visit this place. I was attracted by the signboard and the name itself, can you believe it? Ever since I first laid eyes on Kaffa, I have fallen in love with it and I made it a point to visit this place. I was attracted by the signboard and the name itself, can you believe it? After failing to drop by the first time I came here, finally, tonight, after a terrible day, it was decided that I should reward myself with a mug of hot chocolate (RM 10) here with some hazelnut sprinkled on top. Talking about hazelnut, now that I am writing this, I realized that I did not taste this at all, or perhaps the hazelnut was not strong enough as it was merely sprinkled on top instead of blended together with the beverage. There was a nice sweet heart shape on the froth. The chocolate was just nice, not as sweet as the ones outside and also not diluted like those sold at other bistros or cafes.

My friend ordered the hot milk which was served very frothy and not sweet like those commercialized ones and without any of the milk smell I dislike. I guess the only thing I think unfit for the price is the Chipsmore cookie that came with it making this look cheap skate as most high-end cafes usually serve together with those high quality cookies or at least, homemade cookies. I think my mother bakes better cookies. I discovered that the cookies are taken from the big tins like those we buy RM 2 a packet at the sundry shop! And they serve it with a drink that costs at least RM 10!

The apple Danish pastry was so dry and as delectable as expected. I guess I am too picky when it comes to pastries.

The let-down was the mugs which, although was to suit the retro look of the cafe ambience, was unsuitable, as they were the mugs that Robinson Crusoe used when he was shipwrecked, if you get what I mean, meaning those cheap steel mugs that the poor use, or the beggars use, to put it more crudely.

If not for the tasty drinks, I would have been put off. I guess most customers come here for the drinks. The mugs definitely fail as first impression. I wonder who buys the blue steel mugs placed at the counter, sold for RM 29.90?

The place closes at 12 am.
