Lei cha is indeed an acquired taste. This dish, which is pretty much just vegetables, soup, and rice, doesn't take well to many people. However, if you're willing to give it a shot, this is the best place to have that first try. They only serve it on Fridays and the queue can get quite long; and if you're not early enough, it can run out!This dish is predominantly salty, and mildly bitter - practially not sweet or sour in any way. However, if you're willing to give it a shot, this is the best place to have that first try. They only serve it on Fridays and the queue can get quite long; and if you're not early enough, it can run out!

This dish is predominantly salty, and mildly bitter - practially not sweet or sour in any way. As sweet as it gets is from the peanuts that is one of the ingredients used, which gives it a much-needed nuttiness. The tea soup is fragrant and salty, and I think this is what defines this dish.
