Despite being a Chinese, there are days where I am sick of eating chinese food. Sometimes I have strong cravings for food that is more spicy and heavy regardless of my attempt at trying to eat cleaner. Times like this is when nothing can satisfy my appetite more than Banana Leaf Rice. I have been to my fair share but never realize that there is one just five minutes drive away from my office.

Very convenient for me albeit the restaurant isn't aesthetically exciting. In fact it looks like any run-of-the-mill mamak store amidst many other chinese restaurants.

I was introduced to this place by a colleague who explained that their lamb curry and fried chicken is a must try. Also very affordable unlike certain banana leaf establishments.

So, of course, my first pick is to get my all time favourite Mutton Varuval side dish to my banana leaf rice order. There isn't any fried squid which is another immediate order of mine whenever I have this meal which was slightly disappointing. But still not too upset about it.

Thankfully they serve your rice on actual banana leaves that are clean. Some places now have switched to the paper/platic version which to me just defeats the purpose of calling it Banana Leaf Rice anymore.

The portion of vegetables given are substantial and could be added to no additional price I believe. They also do not skimp on ingredients as they provided three vegetables, fried bittergourd, fried salted chillis, papadum and also rasem without even asking for. All of this comes up to Rm6 only. Totally worth it!

Plus the curry that they pour over your rice is nice! Not watery and bland at all.  The Mutton Varuval was incredibly flavourful, heavily spiced and also very TENDER. Some muttons are so chewy that it feels exhausting to eat with minimal flavour. But Anujas was good and for the price of Rm5 extra, totally a steal.

Would definitely be back here again for more of my indian food fix!
題外話/補充資料: They serve vegetarian food too.
