Most of us are not aware that Murtabak or Martabak in Indonesia is also served sweet. And no, you don’t have to buy a ticket to Indonesia just to taste this. Walk in to most Indonesian restaurant and they might just have one on the menu. And better if you are right around Sunway area. It might have accidently came to my attention that a shop that is rather low profile on the outside actually sells quite a variety of sweet murtabak.

I tasted the Special which consist of chocolate, cheese and peanuts. Imagine a combination of all these ingredients folded in sweet but slightly salted thick pancake. The pancake tasted real similar to one of those crispy folded pancake with peanuts that is smaller in size, commonly sold at any pasar malam. But this one is thick and soft, slightly a little spongy and chewy with a tiny bit of salt from the thick butter.

Starting with the flour mix and when the pancake is done and while it is still hot, cheese was grated and sprinkled onto the entire surface of the pancake that is so much bigger than my head.

Follow by the chocolate sprinkles before the grounded peanuts.

After which some condensed milk was poured onto the pancake before folding them into half.

I am already wondering at this point if this would taste as good as it promises.

In case if you are wondering about the hygiene of this, then worry not because plastic gloves instead of just bare hands are in action.

Folded so the pancakes would sandwich those ingredients inside and lastly cutting into smaller pieces. If this is dessert, then I must say you probably won’t eat more than two pieces of these. The slices are really huge and each slice has got a plump size of pancake. Strictly for sharing this one and I love it uniquely quite a weird combination in a good way.The shop doesn’t sell this from the kitchen order. In fact because this is common Indonesia street food, this is available from the stall at the entrance of the restaurant. Prices range from RM 3.50- RM 6.50. Look for Restaurant Warong Emak (same row as McDonalds) and the stall is next to the Kia showroom.
