Rama V is a famous Thai restaurant in KL. The restaurant is indeed a very nice view in the inside and outside where it hit is a big banglo and the view is indeed beautiful. the restaurant is well designed and the service is simply a good one as well. Kao Ob Sub Pa Rod is where the fried pineapple rice with shrimp coral and pineapple. While you're having the savoury dishes, it would not be a Thai fare without tom yam. Here, Rama V serves Tom Ka Kai, a spicy Tom Yam chicken soup with coconut milk. Not many restaurants specialise in this white tom yam. Rama V prepared its version well with a strong coconut milk fragrant. It tastes sweeter and more aromatic compared to the usual soury and spicy red tom yam.

For some fruits in the menu, try the Som Tam. It looks like rojak but Thai style. It has papaya shreds, cabbage shreds, carrot shreds and julienne chilies for a little spiciness. The spicy papaya salad with peanut is a wonderful dish to have as its sweet and sour flavours opens up appetite while the peanuts added some crunch to the texture. It is also topped with a few strips of fried salted fish to balances the spiciness and sourness with the fish saltiness. Good combination indeed.

The Popiah Sod Ped is another good dish to have. It can be served as a appetiser as it's quite light to the tummy. It has different fresh vegetables all rolled up nicely with a piece of roasted duck meat wrapped with paper thin popiah skin. The duck meat is tender yet savoury to the palate while the fresh vegetables add a refreshing taste. It’s best eaten with the special chili sauce for a little kick.

Fish lovers would need to try the Pla Dang Sam Rod. This dish uses fillet of red snapper fish. It is fried with a light batter before served with three taste chilli sauce. Comprising of sour, sweet and spicy, these three flavours blended perfectly well without compromising each other. The fresh fillets are tender to the bite while the chili sauces emit a distinctive taste.

I bet you will get tired of having the same old Tom Yam Gung or Massaman Beef in any Thai restaurant. Why not try something out of ordinary? Have the Pad Nuer Naum On. It's actually stir fried beef with crushed black peppercorn. The beef is tender to the bite. It comes with a side of butter and pepper sauce. I liked how the sauces complements the savoury beef and add spiciness and fragrance to the overall dish.

With a minimal charge, have a romantic meal at a private couple room. Tastefully decorated, Rama V gives you the best dining experience you could have in the heart of the town. Else, you could dine indoor or outdoor with Mother Nature. If there's 10 of you, you could ask for a private room. For dessert, try the Mango Sticky Rice. The sweet mangoes are great to have with the nicely done sticky rice where it's moist and soft and the creamy coconut milk.

Who says only Kajang serves the best satay? I bet whoever said that have not try the Chicken Satay here at Rama V. The chicken satay with peanut sauce is wonderfully grilled where it retain its natural moist while slightly charred exterior and bursting with aromatic Thai spices without overpowering the savoury chicken flavour. The peanut sauce is also a good companion to the satays where it’s thick and not too spicy or too diluted.

One of my favourite dish when I dine in at any Thai cuisine restaurants are the pandan chicken. The version here at Rama V is highly recommended. Its Thai name is Kai Hor Bai Toey. The fried chicken in pandan leaves is wonderfully done with its meat juicy and tender at the same time. It also posses quite a strong lemongrass and lime flavours to it. Additionally, the pandan leaves add an extra fragrance to the dish as well.

You could pick your selection of dining indoor or outdoor with the lush greeneries. The night scenery outdoor is quite good too. It has several rooms for bigger groups of guests as well. Remember to have the Hor Mok Kung. The otak-otak prawns are prepared in specially designed moulds and steamed to perfection. Every bite oozes juicy goodness with the right sweetness and saltiness and the succulent prawns are a great addition indeed.

I loved the way they decorate the tables. It's clean, simple yet gives out an elegant feeling to the diner. You have got to try the Hoi Nang Rom. The imported fresh succulent oysters are eaten with special green Thai chili sauce and topped with garlic, fried shallots and julienned spring onion. It’s such a unique combination of raw seafood and chili and both of them paired extremely well. The sweetness from the oysters and spiciness from the chili sauce do not overpower each other.

This Southern style Mussaman Beef Curry with Indian Herbs is the world’s number one dish as voted by CNN. The combination of flavours of spiciness and savoury as well as thick cuts of tender meat made it a well loved dish by all.

Pumpkin as dessert, yay or nay? The greedy boyfriend said yay! It was not a bad idea to try out though. It is quite rare that pumpkin is used as dessert. It was basically a slice of steamed pumpkin, loaded with pumpkin custard (its kind!). It formed a creamy fillings in the pumpkin, hence you could imagine how filling would it be! I guess it could be more filling that a main! The taste was rather natural, ie not too sweet but just the pumpkin goodness. Indeed it was healthy but this too I found

However I did not like it at all, reason being, it tasted very one dimensional, ie sour sour sour and a little spicy. The peanut did not help counter balance the one dimensional flavor.The texture was not as crunching and I was having hard time finishing it. Indeed, I did not finish it.

However being in Rama V, the fine Thai dining place, I made an exception and that exception was a good decision made. I was impressed by the delicate presentation even though it was merely simple fruits without post processing (cooking or similar). The fruits were really sweet and fresh, especially the honeydew which was the sweetest and most dense of all.
