This must be one of the thickest pork burger patties I've ever had. It's my second time having time, but I was caught by surprise when my hand was burned by hot molten cheese dripping out of the burger patty's center. I would say it's a bitter-sweet surprise. The entire patty was chunky and cheesy - with a distinct porky taste - nice, though a little 2 dimensional (but sometimes, it's simplicity like this that works best)! Fries were standard issue, and fortunately the dollop of mayo that came with the burger was on the tomato - easily removed (I think burger with mayo is not a good burger).

The reason why we came here at the first place because there was no "corkage" charged for own bottle of wine. Instead, they charge per glass you requested, which was not too bad. We ordered pork burger as it is the famous item of Andes, and that we needed something to go with our white wine.There was nothing to shout about the side dishes; the fries were soft, the salad was very normal and cheap. There was nothing to shout about the side dishes; the fries were soft, the salad was very normal and cheap. The only thing best about the pork burger was the pork patty. It was thick and filled with cheese. Most importantly it was served hot. Occasionally I would be caught by surprise of the hot melting cheese that invaded my tongue and nearly scorched it. It was good, I must say.

I've heard a lot of the pork burgers here, but did not really get a chance to drop by until today. Located along the stretch of food eateries along Jalan PJU1/43 in Aman Suria PJ, Andes BYO wasn't that hard to find. Reaching the restaurant at 7.30pm, I was pleased to see familiar faces already seated at the table. Janice had the 5 Sea Pasta which consisted of seafood primarily, that tasted pretty good. The prawns weren't as fresh as I expected though. I was told the reason it's called 5 Sea Pasta was because there were actually 5 different seafood inside which includes mussels, oyster, prawns and fish. The Pork Bolognaise came looking rather messy, but messy can be very tasty in a good way.

Now the pork burgers at Andes BYO were the main attractions, which the majority of us ordered. Pictured above was their signature burgers, the Aussie Burger, and the Pork Bacon Burger Wrap which was basically their Pork Burger with 2 extra slices of bacon.

The Aussie Burger was a combination of pork and beef all rolled into one huge chunk of meat patty which came out really well. I really liked the taste of the burgers which were home made, unlike the run of the mill burger patties. With some serving of fries that comes in the set of Pork Bacon Burger Wrap, I was apprehensive at first on whether it will be filling enough but after going through my huge Pork Burger with the bacon, it filled up my stomach pretty well.

Overall, Andes BYO served some really nice tasting burgers. Now if only the staffs smiled a bit more, and put more spirit into their work, it would have been a really good evening. The service was pretty disappointing especially when we requested for some items, which never appeared nor come as expected. That aside, I was really glad to be able to dine with some really good friends this Chinese New Year. The burgers made the experience even better.

Behold, the awesome pork burgerI have been to Andes a couple of times till date and I must say, their pork burgers are just that good. So far its being my favorite place for pork burgers. I'm not sure when it happened, but price for the burger increased from RM12.90 to RM13.90. I guess it can't be avoided with all the petrol and sugar price hike. The burger patty is really rich in flavor. You can really taste the pork flavors coming from the patty. If you noticed, there are almost close to non-charred bits around but the meat is cooked thoroughly. Best part of all, there are also cheese at the center(or at the bottom in some cases) of the patty. As the burger is huge, cutting through the patty oozes out the melted creamy cheese. Simply delicious.

Look at those charred grilled marks! Apart from looking really rustic from an old school grill, it was nicely done. A simple dish without beign too complicated, 2 pieces of pork chops, some mashed potato and coleslaw. If I'm not mistaken, you can opt for the black pepper sauce or white sauce.

It's slightly pinkish because the Aussie Burger is a mixture of beef and pork meat. It's really good because I could taste BOTH flavors despite the mix; really awesome. Everything else is pretty much the same as the Pork burger except for the beef mixture.

For those who would like to try Pork Burgers, I highly recommend this place. My favorite place for pork burgers. Fragrant, naturally tasty from the meat that they use and good amount of cheese.

Both pork and Aussie burger costs RM13.90.

p/s: Before one speculates, no, I am not in any way affiliated with Andes. These are my own dining experience at the place for their awesome burgers

In fact it felt so homely I really felt the drinks kitchen was my own kitchen at home. =PEveryone talks about Andes for their pork burgers, but we decided to start off our meal with some Pork Satay (RM 12.90)! Not since Melaka have we found anywhere else that sells pork satay, so even though the price seemed a bit steep we ordered it to try.It turned out to be a good decision because it was tasty! Everyone talks about Andes for their pork burgers, but we decided to start off our meal with some Pork Satay (RM 12.90)! Not since Melaka have we found anywhere else that sells pork satay, so even though the price seemed a bit steep we ordered it to try.

It turned out to be a good decision because it was tasty! Each stick had nice big chunks of flavourful meat on it without much fat. The meat, although tough in parts, had been well marinated. With 10 sticks in all, it was enough for both of us to share. The mild peanut sauce I suspect is homemade, and I gave it a miss because I didn't think it went very well with the satay. But that's okay because the pork satay tastes just fine on its own. =)

The satay is good, but of course everyone knows Andes is famous for the pork burgers! Wendy went for that, while I went for the Australian Bacon Burger Wrap (RM 16.90).

Besides the obvious strip of bacon on top of the Australian Beef Bacon Wrap burger, the beef patty is also stuffed with cheese that oozes out while working through the patty. Be warned though: the cheese can harden quickly. When that happens it becomes less fun to eat, so try to eat the burger quick! The beef and cheese surprisingly wasn't that impressive a combination. I would give this a miss next time we're there.

Other than that, the burgers actually look very similar. If you don't believe me, take a look at the next one.

That's the Pork Burger (RM 13.90). Can hardly tell the difference right The simple yet humongous pork patty tasted good and hearty with the cheese and Wendy enjoyed it. There wasn't as much cheese in this patty compared to the beef, which meant you could enjoy the meat without having it overpowered.

Both patties do look really thick in pictures, which is also true in real life. Unfortunately just because a patty is thick doesn't mean it's the best. A few years or even months ago this might have been considered the best pork patty in town, but nowadays there are so many pork outlets sprouting everywhere it's impossible not to compare.
