For myself, I ordered the Lao Shu Fun with an added egg. This food reminds me of my childhood because my mom makes really good one and I've been struggling to find a restaurant that cooks something remotely similar. But the one I had that night was so good, although not same as the one my mother makes, it's still very delicious.

Plus the added egg makes the whole thing more creamy & indulgent. I finished this whole pot of noodles to myself just to satisfy my long craving.

Then because this was also something I was dying to have and a favourite of my mom's, we ordered the Loh Mee. This too was also very good especially after adding some black vinegar to give it more sour-ness which I prefer rather than the simple taste. The one served here has just the right amount of thickness to the soup and also very good flavour. Would happily just finish the whole bowl of soup even after enjoy my claypot lao shu fun.

Apparently they serve good hokkien noodles and also other kind but I've yet to try them. Which gives me a good reason to go back.

Hokkien Mee (RM9.90)

The noodle is full of “wok hei” and there is generous amount of crispy lard found in the dish. Very tasty and well braised.

Not easy to find white version loh mee. The version is well braised with the noodle very soft and smooth down the throat. Huge serving.

Served in a hot claypot with a raw egg in the centre. Remember to mix as soon as possible to give the noodle an extra smooth texture.

Wan Tan Soup (RM6.50)

I am disappointed to find the wanton stuffed with fish paste, instead of the minced pork which I am more used to. The fish paste is too smooth and lack of texture.

Dumpling Soup (RM8.50)

Similar to the Wan Tan Soup, but worse as one can find a number of the wrappers falling off the dumplings. A show of lack of skills.

Deep Fried Bean Curd with Salad (RM6.50)

We are expecting plain deep fried bean curd, but it turns out to deep fried seafood beancurd. KInd of reminding me of the frozen seafood beancurd found in supermarket.

Kuk Po (RM6.00)

A pot of Pu-erh and Chrysanthemum tea, which is refillable and can be shared among all with small cups.

Overall the old school dishes are very tasty especially for the noodle dishes and are priced reasonably.

Today im trying the Lor Mee from Kim Lian Kee (wanna try something new instead of their signature hokian mee).It is kind of different from the Lor Mee from Penang. The noodles is thick (looks like udon) and chewy. The gravy is thick and concentrated, due to the egg starch in it. Taste good and it comes in a very huge portion (Enough for two) even i order the small size of the lor mee. You can try to add some of their homemade sambal paste to give some spicy taste to the noodles.

I was surprised that Kim Lian Kee actually offers a vegetarian option on their menu given that they use meat and seafood generously in almost all of their signature products (KL Hokkien Mee, Kuey Teow in Egg Gravy, etc). However, I'm pleased to report that their Vegetarian Fried Rice certainly do not disappoint. Fried with enough "wok hei" like their signature noodles, their vegetarian fried rice's fragrant and super delicious as well. Worth a try

I actually enjoyed this so much more than the Moonlight Kuey Teow. Yummy! The egg gravy is consistent.. not too thick, nor too watery. Just nice.. They're really generous with the ingredients too.. the shredded meat, cuttlefish, prawns and lots of green leafy veges (choy sum, lettuce and cabbages). Yums The kuey teow itself is smooth and silky too. I gobbled up everything

Their noodles being the main star attractions of Kim Lian Kee; other dishes like this stir fry squid with soya sauce is more like a side order.. You know, something to munch on or to accompany the noodles It's pretty OK. The squids are nicely stir fried with Spring Onions garnished on top. Not too salty, not too overly cooked.. the squids are rather tender and not too tough. Overall, pretty good.

Initially I was attracted to the name of this dish.. Moonlight Kue Teow ? Aaaah...so basically I found out that it's actually fried wet kuey teow with an added raw egg in the center. You will need to mix the raw egg together with all the kuey teow to get the half-cooked, sticky feel. I personally feel that since the kuey teow itself is already rather wet and sticky; mixing it together with the runny egg made it overtly watery and sticky.. just a bit too much :-( So this is only average for me...

I absolutely love Kim Lian Kee's KL Hokkien Mee.. definitely the best of its' kind in town A tad oily maybe, but so sinfully delicious. Every thick yellow noodle strand's covered with thick black soy sauce and porky goodness. Also love the fact they're so generous with the cuttlefish and shredded cabbage. Best eaten with the accompanying sambal and half of a lime squirted into the sambal. yums

I absolutely love Kim Lian Kee at Hutong Lot 10 and their original restaurant at Jalan Petaling; so I was excited to found out they opened one at Viva Mall too . And thank goodness, for I believe that they do contribute much in bringing in more patrons to the otherwise quiet mall. They have many types of noodles and dishes, but I almost always go for their signature Hokkien Mee.
