A clean and comfortable environment. Friendly services and reasonable price restaurant. I love the Asam Fish Head here, the sauce of the Asam Fish Head made me can't stop eating. But this dish is not available each time because of the fresh ingredients supply from the market. Make a reservation before you come. 繼續閱讀

Since opening in last May, Palace Kitchen has been afavourite dining place especially for family occasion since it’s located in thevicinity of Shamelin neighbourhood.Diners could expect a sumptuous array of honest homey fooddeliciously dished up by Paul, together with his compatriot of none other thanhis beloved mom. Paul is seen as a lively and resourceful chap who has had afair share of culinary travel experience, from France, Singapore than to thecurrent place that he calls hometown, Malaysia. The restaurant boast a clean and comfortable diningenvironment and is also brightly lit, which projects a neat and tidy interior,as contrary to what you would have seen in other usual Chinese neighborhoodrestaurants which at times could be tad laid back and facilely decorated. Nutritious home-boiled Chinese ‘leongshui’ (aka tonic drink) to cool off the body.Diners are assured of healthy drinksas Paul insisted to freshly prepare those beverages every morning without any flavorenhancers and the varieties would rotate on different days. The one that we hadthat evening was from the mixture of ‘luo han guo’ or more commonly known asmonk fruit. Ensue next were the deliciously andfreshly woofed up dishes from the stove of Palace Kitchen.FRY SPICY MINCED MEAT WITH TOFU AND PUMPKIN SAUCE (MYR 15)Indeed an alluring golden plate ofsilken tofu, gracefully doused with homemade pumpkin accompanied by thespecially made minced meat to add flavours. I personally find that meaty bitesare very chunky and full of flavor, not too spicy but rich in spice aroma thatcertainly spice up the overall dish. It easily goes well with a plate of hot, white rice.MINCEDMEAT WITH BRINJAL and HOMEMADE FISH PASTE (MYR 15)Another plate that comes with the ‘secret weapon’;minced meat that is very savoury and moister as compared to the spicily friedversion with the bean curd earlier. Tastewise, this claypot dish is much more robust in flavor, where the homemade sweetfish paste (‘yu wat’) is enhanced with stronger flavor by the minced meat andalso brinjals that have done a good job by absorbing the sauce essence, makingit a pleasant comfort food that needs not further additional sauces to go with.PAUL STYLE PORK RIBS (MYR 25)Paul’s interpretation of braisedpork ribs. Tender and juicy from the inside out while blending in with some Chineseherbs gravy and house special recipe. Nicely glazed visually and having aslightly different nuance from the mass- the pork meat has a mild chewiertexture rather than those Western recipes which prone to ‘melt-in-the-mouth’texture. Something interesting from this Oriental cook I would say (=SIGNATURE ASAM (MYR 31)Steamed Bonito Fish Head (‘song yu’) using home blend pasteof tart-spicy Asam paste and garnished with mint leaves. The fish wasgenerously served and deemed reasonably priced, looking at the huge portion.Red asam paste was thankfully not too spicy and rather mild but full of herbsfragrance, with some gingery kicks too. I wouldn’t mind if it’s slightly moresour to whet the palate appetizingly, hehe.HONG KEE STYLE DACE FISH FRY (MYR 14)Finally aveggie plate to greet out table and sorta balanced out the meaty feast earlier(=It’s thehomey fried dace fish with black beans served alongside some chili padi atopcrisp lettuce. This dish need not much flavoring as the brininess from the dacefish is sufficient to add flavours and complement the stir-fried leafy greens delectably.Overall, I findPalace Kitchen Restaurant a cozy place for family dining as well as enjoyingmeal with friends alike over sumptuous Chinese cuisine. It may not be that poshor opulently executed, but definitely serves up a homey grubs that are addedwith love and passion in it, plus, most of the sauces and relish are inhousemade albeit it can be time consuming. the fish head is fresh , the asam sauce is rich, different from other restaurant. It accompany well with petai and enhanced with mint leaves. WELL DONE !other dish like meat, tofu and vege also nice !!Less variety thou, but , for a place which focus on fish head, i think they should consider to make more flavor on fish head.  繼續閱讀
