When we order Hokkien mee, the complement has to be a Cantonese style noodle. Hence, we ordered the stir-fried ying-yang Cantonese style. The egg gravy was done very well, and the mee hoon was fried to perfection, crunchy and not too oily. The koay teow used was also pan-fried beforehand, giving it a good aroma. Priced at RM24 per portion, it was a decent price to pay.

The fried noodle Hokkien style in Noble Mansion;s menu looked rather inviting, especially the picture shown with lots of pork lard topping. Dad, being the hokkien noodles fan, wanted this, hence we decided to order. The noodle was fried well, with lots of wok hei. The pork lard was also aplenty in the dish. Not too salty, just right. Priced at RM24, it was well worth the amount paid.

The fresh water prawn with hor fun in superior prawn soup was also something that I had before in Oriental Pavilion, and this dish definitely did not disappoint. Half a fresh water prawn was given, and it was very fresh and juicy. The hor fun was silky smooth, sliding down the throat easily. The soup was thick with prawn-y goodness. There were also slices of ginger and gau choy in the dish which complemented the dish well. Priced at RM25 a bowl, it was definitely well worth the amount paid.

I was delighted to see that Noble Mansion also serves Hong Kong kai lan prepared two ways, as I have had this dish in their sister restaurant Oriental Pavilion. I ordered and the dish came quite fast. However, I was disappointed to see that the fried leafy bits were much less compared to Oriental Pavilion. The fried dried scallop topping was also quite sparse. Overall, the dish meets expectations, as it tasted the same, however, the only grouse was that the fried leaves and dried scallops were a

We wanted to have some fish, so we decided to settle for the cod fish with pomelo sauce in whole orange. The presentation was very unique, with the piece of cod fish balancing on an orange. The cod fish was cooked very well, flaky and fresh. Underneath the cod fish were some hidden gems of pomelo and tiny orange wedges which gave the dish a citrus-y tang. Overall a great dish for RM18.

Dad didn’t really like the deep-fried eggplant, so we decided to get him the braised brinjal with minced meat in claypot. The brinjal was nicely stewed in brown sauce, together with a generous portion of minced meat in it. It went very well with white rice and it was soft enough for dad to chew. Priced at RM25, it was slightly expensive but worth the amount paid.

The double boiled superior soup with beef and enoki mushroom in Japanese paper wok looked rather interesting from the menu, hence hubby and I unanimously agreed to order. The name was a mouthful, and the dish is also a big mouthful. Though the portion is not that big, it is sufficient for the both of us. The soup is definitely superior, while the enoki mushrooms wrapped in beef was very delectable. There were also some shitake mushrooms as well as some sliced white mushrooms in the dish. Definit

Hubby is a fan of brinjals, and he wanted to try out the deep-fried eggplant with chicken floss. I thought it sounded interesting, hence we agreed to order. The eggplant was well fried with the batter, however, the batter was a bit too crunchy for me. The eggplant was topped with some minced chicken floss that gave it a brackish flavour. We quite enjoyed this dish. Priced at RM12 a portion, it was quite worth the amount paid.

I wanted some crunchy items so I ordered the golden crispy shimeiji mushroom. The waitress also recommended the dish. These little brown mushrooms are deep-fried in light batter. The mushrooms were very fresh, and quite juicy. Pleasant and firm, it has a slight nutty flavour with blends very well with the batter. Priced at RM8 per set, it was well worth the amount paid.

I heard from friends that another “Noble” is in town, and it is located mere minutes from my place. So hubby and I decided to check it out over the weekend. There weren’t that many people, probably due to the fact that it is still new. We ordered the smoked potato roll with bacon as an appetiser. Six little morsels of delight on a rectangular plate lined with peppered mayonnaise greeted us. Each mouthful was filled with tuber taste accentuated with the aroma of bacon and tomato. Staggeringly chunky-meaty, far exceeding our evening's protein requirements.

Braised whole superior fish maw in imperial sauce. Gotta love the grandiose descriptions on Chinese restaurant menus.

Sizzling claypot abalone & frog meat. Executive chef Justin Hor is the man to thank for this interesting recipe, befitting The Oriental Group's reputation for top-flight fare.

We love liver sausages; Noble Mansion fulfilled our plea for them to be served on their own. RM15++ for two, the cheapest plate of our orders.
