I must give credits to the claypot curry fish head at this place. The curry tasted really nice and fragrant with not too rich with coconut milk flavors. I normally dislike curry with heavy coconut milk based, but this one is just nice. The other condiments were also abundance, such as brinjals, French beans, dry beancurd, and not to forget the fish head and fish fillets. Normally fish heads are not meaty, therefore, fish fillet will be added. Otherwise, consumers will feel unjustified. The claypot keeps the heat of the dish and it was really good to eat with plain rice. 
Tar Chong Restaurant is a great place for the surrounding residents to have their meal at an affordable price and free entertainment at night. The place provides two big projectors screen and showcase Astro channels. The beverage choices here are also abundant. This is the fresh apple juice. Nevertheless, green apples were used. The drink was slightly sourish, some sugar syrup was added. Otherwise, the drink would be even sourer. The apple juice was nicely juiced and no residue from the apples. Good healthy drink option.
I don’t normally fruit juices from coffee shop, but that day I was trying to be healthy. Thus, my beverage order was soursop juice. I always knew the good attributes of soursop, one of it was to able to prevent cancer. The juice was in green color and the soursop fruits were added to the drink. The drink was slightly bland, perhaps I was expecting more soursop in the drink. The soursop fruit tasted sweet and I like to eat the fruits. RM3 per glass. I don’t think I would order it again because I think they gave too little soursop fruits in the drink.
The fried cockles were quite a popular dish among my family. We always grab the chance to order it as a side dish. The cockles were fresh, big and juicy. The chef was careful not to overcook the cockles, therefore, the cockles remained juicy and soft. Flavor wise, the sauce was slightly salty and spicy with some chopped garlic and chilli. The waiting time could take awhile depends on how busy the stall can be.
Pan mee has evolved over the years and many new creations came up to excite our ever changing taste buds. This stall here sells Fried Pan Mee. To me, this is all new as I never come across fried pan mee. I gave it a try and although it was nice, but it wasn’t spectacular or memorable. The fried pan mee also tasted similar to normal dry pan mee, with the slightly sweet and thick dark soy sauce as the main taste. I like the minced pork meat, very lean and flavorful. Some fried fish balls were added and accompanied with spicy chilli paste. The pan mee’s texture was soft.
The claypot lou shu fun was served pipping hot. I think the use of claypot really matters in retaining heat. The claypot lou shu fun was not bad, lots of ingredients in it. However, i find the sauce to to be too sweet. Funny, i was expecting a savory dish, but turned out it tasted sweet. The sauce was not bad, just not suitable for my taste bud. The minced pork was extremely flavorful and juicy. There were some fresh romaine lettuce, fish balls, egg and bean curd skins. The loh shu fun was nice and transparent. RM5.00
One of my favorite drinks is Teh C Special. I ordered this drink from Tar Chong, cost me RM3.00. Comparing the taste and flavor to other places, somehow i don't find the drink satisfying. When i had this drink from Tar Chong, the drink wasn't flavorful. The gula melaka was not fragrant and not sweet enough. Perhaps the condensed milk was not enough, so lacking in sweetness too. Hopefully when i try it again for my next visit, it won't disappoint me.
When I saw this dish on the menu displayed on the stall, I was attracted by its name in Mandarin. It's called 北菇滑鸡面.
