After shopping for a while is time to hunt for dinner! We are here in "la la street" in Sunway Pyramid shopping centre where the public name them. "la la street" is famous of selling many nice clothings, and also food too! Here the porridge shop is located. Many people having their dinner here. We got our seat and have ordered fish porridge and Yau Char Gui 油炸鬼 to be eat together with the porridge. Food served! Nice RM7.50 per pot with big portion, we have ordered two pots. The children love it very much! Yummy porridge here nice to try! Even though here mainly selling clothes, but the environment here simple and clean. Staff are friendly too! Keep it up! continue reading

From their restaurant name, certainly it is famous of porridge. They have plenty choices of porridge, such as ish, seafood, pork, prawn, farm frog, chicken..etc. You also can order some side dishes to add into the porridge to make it more delicious (egg, century egg, salted egg, you tiao, seaweed, peanut etc). Beside this, they also serve dry noodle, claypot farm frog with kong pou style, fish cake, herbal braise chicken, steamed vege, tong sui etc. We have ordered Dry Home made Noodles which comes with a bowl of soup. The ingredients include vegetable, fried fu zuk and fried fish paste. The noodle is very stringy and taste good. continue reading

Whenever I’m sick or feeling like I am losing my appetite, I always have craving for porridge. I guess porridge became a staple food for those without any appetite to eat. Decent ones are difficult to locate, but recently I found one I thought was pretty decent and palatable. It was served as individual claypots and the porridge texture was thick and not too diluted, just the way that I like it.I ordered the Teng Chai porridge, and I requested to add on salted egg, and you tiao. They have got other stuff like the red bean bun, glutinous rice bun, and the ma jiao. But I didn’t order those because I didn’t felt like I could finish my food. The ingredients in the porridge were really generously served. Lots of century egg as well as crab stick. I thought it was genius to have raw crab stick slightly stirred into the porridge instead of cooking it in the porridge. That’s why the texture of crabstick somehow remained chewy. I love the salted egg in the porridge. Most places won’t have such generous amount of salted egg.If porridge alone is too bland, do try the fried fu chuk. Amazingly appetizing due to the crispy outer layer. Fish paste wrapped in it was a little brine when eaten alone, but it complimented the porridge well.Lastly, I finish the meal with a cup of Cham ( a mixture of tea and coffee). Smooth milk tea with a slight touch of coffee makes a perfect Cham. Since I am not so much of a coffee person, I like it a lot because this is a slightly softer and smoother version of coffee. The Teng Chai porridge cost Rm 6.50, with Rm 1 extra for additional salted egg. You tiao is Rm 1.40, and fried fu chuk cost me Rm 5.50. So the total price I paid for the meal was almost Rm 18 including service tax. I thought it was okay, and I definitely will come back to them the next time I feel like eating porridge. continue reading

You Tiao also called as Chinese crullers are a very popular item for breakfast. Now we can easily get this at shopping malls, thanks to the opening of shops selling porridges. The version here is as good as the ones in morning/night markets. The temperature of it is adequtely hot when it was served to us, not too hot to burn your tongue. It was not oily too, definitely very important for diet watchers like me The outer layer was pleasantly crispy, with some doughy QQ texture at the same time half airy space that gives a good bite and stimulates your appetite. continue reading

This is my first time to try this 艇仔粥 Teng Chai at Porrige Time. It comes in a big pot like this, you can either share with your friend if you think it's too much for you. But actually it's just about a big bowl of porridge like what you normally get from others porridge stall. This porridge is comes with some seaweed, peanut and some other ingredients. It's not really suit my taste bud, as the taste and also the ingredients are slightly different than the original 艇仔粥 Teng Chai. The porridge itself is too thick until it's taste kind of weird. continue reading
