What an embarassing evening for me when I took my 9 Hong Kong friends there for dinner on August 17th, 2014.  First of all the skin on the roast pork was really hard, thick and dried and the pork meat was soooo... fat!  They were kind enough to change to char siu when I complained though.  So came the char siu (I think the cook was annoyed with us)... god help us because the char siu was even worst!!!  It was gooey with brown sugared sauce and even fatter.. no exegeration.  The beijing duck was quite good but the wrappers were dried and they did not give enough condiments to go with it.  The yee-mein that was supposed to have duck slices in it (can't see any) was so brown looking and tasted just as bad ( with too much dark sauce) and again way, way too sweet.  Luckily the rest of the dishes went down well enough.  My poor guests who always treated me so finely whenever I visited them in HK were very gracious and kept telling me not to feel bad.   I am writing this review because I am really shocked and I have never had a disaster meal like this before and lastly the meal did not come cheap either!        continue reading

nowadays you see kailan handled this waymaybe it is to mask the fact that some kai lan have become to old in the fridge and this is one way to dispose of it without customers complaining that it is too oldbut the presentation of this dish is a big dissapointment compared to the illustration in the menuthe leaves were shredded very coarsely and the leaves are dark green instead of light green continue reading

Duck King Restaurant 王帝鸭a great place to come here and try the menu here. mainly on the duck meat and of course they also have other interesting choices as well as the drinks here is nice too.i try the chicken meat. the skin is not that crispy type and more to the marinated chicken meat and then they steam it and served with the soy sauce .the food is variety and i like to come here continue reading

A very comfortable place located at jaya one. Can easily spot this location.There is a big crowd but lucky i do not need to wait or queue up as no reservation is required. Based on walk in.the place is comfortable and the duck rice is tasty. crispy skin and the chicken and roasted pork is also selling fast here. i saw many people ordered it. the rice is good but i prefer some sauce on the duck meat continue reading

做一个富贵的皇帝鸭「皇帝鸭」听闻其久,还真未尝过。这天去了。。。中式的庄重装璜,米黄棕色摆设。惊一瞥,有蔡生肖像坐镇。翻开菜单,有倪匡蔡生提点大名加持,未尝已加分。点了北京片皮鸭,XO酱四季豆炒鸭肉(XO酱没想象的惹味,倒是想尝尝原味的烤鸭肉),两式炒香港芥兰(叶子炒得咸香脆口,茎枝用香蒜大火油炒得停不了口,嫩得大爱),过火猪八戒(豆鼓辣蒜热炒五花肉,好下饭的一道菜),再配上猪油捞饭一绝! continue reading
