Another feast I enjoyed at Shaz’s during the last Ramadan was the Ayam Penyet from the famous Wong Solo Restaurant. They sell authentic Indonesian food in rather affordable price. Those chickens were nicely done although I have had better ones. This one wasn’t really flattened to the extreme yet.And of course, the penyet set must come with the Tauhu and the Tempeh. The tempeh didn’t quite meet my expectations but I am always a sucker with tempehs so yeah, I thought it was pretty awesome anyhow. And there is this Chap Chai that is mildly spicy version of the usual mix vegetables. Wait a minute, I am not sure why they don’t have a ‘bahasa’ term for it but it is called the chap chai. There is a mix of vege, carrots, chili, garlic, prawn and eggs and it is cooked with some gravy in it.Another usual dish to go with the penyet chicken is the raw salads. And to go with it is this super awesome chili that is so piquant, you would love and hate it at the same time. I really enjoy the chili, and clearly there are still lots of chili seeds in it seeing that it is really spicy. continue reading

Although the restaurant is famous for ayam penyet, I ordered its ayam bakar instead, that everyone was recommending. I opted for ayam bakar peha and it came together with white rice, tempeh, cucumber, and lettuce. The chili was extremely spicy and it was very addictive. The ayam bakar itself was so aromatic, slight burnt edges, it was not too salty and the meat was tender. continue reading

This is where you should go if you wanna taste TRUE, Aunthentic Indonesia Ayam Penyet! Seriously, no joke! The chef are Indonesians and the ayam and lele penyet here's as aunthentic as you could get- right down to the spices they used to marinade the chicken and fish; as well as the chilli sambal they used! It's super, super spicy and some might not be able to stand the spiciness level.. but I super love it!! Also do try their black pepper grilled chicken.. equally good, and the sauce's simply heavenly. Cost Rm10.90 per dish.. not too expensive. Their range of drinks are limited... but who cares when the main dishes are to die for... continue reading

Chicken rice in Malay style. Besides chinese style chicken rice, malay style chicken rice is also my favourite. This Wong Solo ayam penyet is famous for their chicken rice. The chicken is well grilled and aromatic with their rempah smell. The chili sauce is also quite spicy, a very nice combination with the grilled chicken. A good place to enjoy authentic Malay style ayam penyet continue reading
