The broth in the big wok or pot is very....very delicious. The restaurant serves big portion of everything. So, don't order too much if you are a small eater. The dipping sauce is superb, just try to mix the three types of sauce together for that ummph...But finding for a car park here is very difficult, you will have to park by the roadside and becareful of summons. continue reading

Fancy some piping hot spicy steamboat? Well, the other night, we had that and more over at Xiao Fei Yang Steamboat Restaurant. Located off Jalan Pudu, it was indeed a gem of a restaurant, serving really nice "ma la" spicy soup steamboat. Arriving at the restaurant just in time for dinner, we went for the Yuan Yang soup base which was a combination of the Herbal Chicken Soup and Ma La Peppercorn Seed Soup. Those who cannot take the spiciness of the Ma La Peppercorn Seed Soup would welcome the herbal chicken soup with open arms. Now the soup was really spicy with the Ma La Peppercorn Seed inside, definately not for the spicy intolerant people nor the faint hearted. The soup created a numbing sensation on our lips the moment we took it in. It was good that we took the herbal chicken soup as well, because it helps a lot in neutralizing the spiciness of our ingredients. Unlike the usual steamboat eateries out there, on top of the spicy Ma La soup, what differentiates Xiao Fei Yang from the rest was the fact that they have these different types of sauce and condiments as our dippings. Mix it all together, and it really does give that additional kick to the overall taste. There were ample dishes to choose from, ranging from RM4 to RM18 per dish depending on what we chose. We had straw mushrooms, vegetables, clear glass noodles, chicken, dumplings, fresh prawns, beef balls and many more. Attached below is their menu for the various prices so do check it out. On top of the usual steamboat ingredients, we had a choice of thinly sliced meat as well. There was a choice of beef, lamb or chicken meat. We had all three that nice warm evening. These thin slices of meat reminded me of those "shabu shabu" styled steamboat. It was indeed a really nice steamboat dinner, especially taken with a group of friends. The heat from the steamboat and spices gave all our faces a nice red glow by the end of the meal. Before we ended for the night, the chef for Xiao Fei Yang Steamboat Restaurant brought out their specialty dessert, some really unique fried yam and sweet potato doused in hot sugar before being dipped immediately into ice cold water. continue reading

Xiao fei yang restaurant is located at Jalan Pudu, behind Berjaya Times Square. The soup is made from herbal. U have two choice for the soup, that is herbal soup or (ma lat) spicy soup. Many choices of side dishes you can order. The meat is very fresh and the price is very reasonable. I love this steamboat so much because it really so delicious. And the soup make my tongue numb. continue reading

Its Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day as well on this year 14th February. Was planning to have a candlelight dinner with boyfie but my mum drag us along for a family and friends steamboat feast after a gambling session at my home.My mum suggested Xiao Fei Yang in Pudu and we followed. As we reached, the soup is already ready , herbal soup and also spicy soup aka Ma lat soup based in a pot divided to two.We ordered 1-2 ingredients each of us . We had sliced lamb, chicken, pork, mushrooms, pork balls, fish balls, and etc. Personally , i favoured their Special Pork Ball aka Bao zha yun, its so awesome, When you bite on it, the juice and splash out your mouth and the meat is so tender. The sliced meat is also sliced very thin so we just dipped inside the pot for minute then can be eaten already. The soup base is awesome, we finished and refilled it. continue reading
