My first brush and experience with Iranian cuisine is actually with Naab. Their outlet at Bukit Bintang is much larger and has better traffic flow, but this branch at Solaris Mont Kiara has a more elegant and cosy feel to it. Probaby because it's quieter thus the waiters are more attentive. I totally love their Safron RIce which comes with all the main dishes. Each grain's soft, fluffy and uniquely flavored with Safron. Their Golden Crispy Fried Fish was superb and well marinated with unique Iranian spices. So was their Fish and Chicken Kebab.. which is so flavorful and grilled to perfection Yums! Be warned that prices can be pretty high though, as this is a fine dining establishment... continue reading

Firstly I would like to apologise for the terrible photos, my phone decided it couldn't take the yellowish lighting and made everything look kinda unappetizing. But the truth is that the food at naab was pretty good with reasonable price too. Tucked in a quiet corner of Solaris Mont Kiara, naab was rather empty when we visited during the week. The decor was pleasant but lacks 'personality' in comparison to their main branch in Bukit Bintang. Nevertheless the service was friendly and polite. We browsed through the menu and decided on a few items. One does not visit a middle eastern restaurant without trying their hummus. They version (RM12,90) is comforting without being overly creamy. It would have been perfect with just a little bit more salt. The Baba Ganoush salad/dip (RM12.90) was probably not much to look at due to the slightly grey tinge of eggplant flesh, but it definitely makes up with good clean flavours of eggplant, capsicum and lemon. I prefer this to the hummus, but the bf loved the hummus and wiped it clean! I should also mention the hot bread provided was the perfect transport for these dips. I couldn't stop picking up the little pita chips from the Fattoush salad. Very appetizing little dish with fresh vegetables and only RM9.90. Ordered the single Lamb Koobideh Kebab (around RM25) and enjoyed it. The Lamb was nicely seasoned and went well with the basil leaves, pickles, grilled tomato and onion slices. What I love about the rice was the super long grain, and each grain was actually tangy and aromatic, buttery at some part too. Superb. continue reading

Never judge a restaurant by it's appearance - something I learned when I sat down for a meal at Naab recently. I was expecting the usual "nose-in-the-air" environment but I was greatly mistaken. Naab is a fine dining restaurant manned by the very humble.A warm feeling washed over me as I walked into a cosy lit hall with a friend in tow. The restaurant staff was quick to attend to us with a smile and courteous recommendations. I ended up choosing to sit outside to enjoy the view. Following the menu, was a complimentary drink - a fizzy lemon concoction with a light minty taste that was so delicious. It was the perfect beginning to a brilliant eating escapade. For starters, we ordered Barley Soup. It has a mild sour taste which is full of flavour. The texture of the cooked barley was very well done. I absolutely loved it!Naab's signature Hot Bread goes well with the soup. This is freshly baked and a great accompaniment for many of Naab's flavourful dishes. Mirza Ghasemi is a perfect example of one of the dishes that is excellent with Naab's hot bread. It is a scrumptious blend of smoked eggplants with cooked tomatoes, garlic and fried egg. If you fancy something light, this would be the perfect dish. In fact, I would go as far as replacing my roti telur breakfasts at the Mamak stall with this healthier version.Food is served with a good sense of flow and timing. Our order of Chicken with Barberry Rice arrived at the right moment. At first glance, the rice looks dry. What it really is, is soft and fluffy, not the starchy stuff we're used to. Noticing our concern, the waiter brought us some soup - on the house. Although I felt it wasn't necessary, I was pleased with the attention. The berries give the rice an extra "oomph". The chicken? It's a lovely pairing for this dish with pickles and lemon as an option for an enhanced experience. The last dish to arrive was Lamb Koobideh - lamb kebab wrapped in hot bread, served with salad and Persian shallot yoghurt. Mild, in comparison with all the flavourful dishes that was on our table but not thoroughly unappetising. Overall, I am impressed with Naab's customer service and the passion they put into preparing their food. This is fine dining at the finest without a hefty price tag. continue reading

Naab Business & Dining Centre at Solaris Mont Kiara has a smaller outlet as compare to the one in KL. It does not serve buffet, but I am very satisfied with the ala carte meal here. Although the menu is not so extensive as compared to other iranian cuisine, I find that the food quality is really good. The naan here is very thick but with soft texture, best dipped with hummus which is slightly sourish and salty in taste. The staple food of Iranian is just healthy and filling for me.The meal is never complete without Iranian tea. The red tea is slightly sweet, but I added more sugar in it according to my preference of sweetness. Very light and aromatic. continue reading

Been passing by this restaurant quite often with curiosity. Finally, decided to make my maiden attempt in Iranian Cuisine at its outlet in Solaris Mont Kiara one fine Saturday night. We were greeted amiably upon our arrival. Some Middle Eastern-flavored songs were heard rendering from the restaurant background and this all together made us and the other patrons feels comfortable just at homeAfter we were presented the Naab menu, I browsed through it with butterflies in my stomach, looking at all the unique dishes name, without any hints in my mind. Nevertheless, am still up for the challenge albeit the nervousness being a foodie me Luckily, their Frizzy Lemonade with mint leaves, which were complimentary, does help to cool me off, haha. I would say it’s a “preliminary appetite enhancer” with its citrusy taste.Without wasting any more time, we quickly tucked in the splendor Iranian fine dishes we had ordered.Hommos Veggie- served with crispy Nan hot bread. Mix Koobide Kebab- which we could savor both texture of Chicken and Lamb Kebab, alongside with saffron rice and unsalted butter.Dough- Guess this traditional Iranian yogurt drink really got the better of me. It is a blend of fresh yogurt with water plus mint which gives out a pungent sourish taste which not to my liking. However, it does provide some sense of deep relaxation.Sekanjebin- Refreshing drink which consists of cucumber, green apples, mint and some other herbs which is much more acceptable to me than the former drink, hehe..Delectable spread!Though all the dishes does look peculiar to me, I still enjoyed my this exotic exploration and would come back for other appetizers continue reading
