The texture of ice cream was similar to black sesame's; creamy (must be very fatty!) Strawberry mascarpone was mild and not too sweet, not too cheesy too. Another scoop was oreo ice cream, which was pretty predictable. Both went along well. continue reading

I am very particular when it comes to ice-cream. I am never someone who eat the local branded ice-cream unless it is homemade or some one-of-a-kind like traditional Thai coconut ice-cream yet this has Thai influence. Even ice-cream tubs sold in shopping malls are not my fancy. The only ice-cream I ever eat are those of Baskin Robbins and also Haagen Daaz and Japanese brands! I guess I am just that picky! After all, I cannot be letting any frozen milk get into my body and fatten me up for no reason! I am one who always go for gelato but not all gelato would do for me! There was once when I was young and in secondary school in Penang, whenever I am in KL, since Penang did not sell gelato at that time, I would even go the extent of having 3 times of gelato where each time contained at least 3-4 mini scoops! I am that crazy about food and usually have a food marathon when I go for a holiday. Hence, my food marathon in KL instead of shopping marathon! Later, when I was studying and working in KL/Selangor, I was not that crazy over gelato otherwise I would be bankrupt or even fat at the end of the day!Ever since I had tasted the alcoholic and non-alcoholic gelato at Gelatomio Lounge available at Pavilion and also Berjaya Times Square, I became hooked. Since then, I never say yes to other gelato! These branches are owned by a white guy who is the chef, I guess, as I saw him making or would I saw 'chopping' or 'ice-cooking' the ice-cream at Pavilion one fine day. This is the only place I know that sells alcoholic ice-cream at such an affordable price of RM 8.30 for 2 small scoops in a very crispy cone! The cone beats the one by Drumstick or any other on the street or the one bought at the hypermarket! The alcoholic flavours comprised of real Rum and Raisin, Tiramisu. The dark chocolate and hazelnut flavours are seriously rich and very sinful and beats the ones offered by the two biggest ice-cream franchises in the world! Every lick is tasted like heaven and soothes the soul. The yoghurt ice-cream at Gelatomio would not be my recommendation. But perhaps I am bias since I am not a yoghurt ice-cream fan. It is too milky for me and the strawberries too frozen till it made my teeth pain. So every time I go to Pavilion or Berjaya Times Square, I always make sure I visit Gelatomio. It is even on par or better than some of the original Italian gelato I had in Rome! continue reading

continue reading

Gelatomio has a huge variety of flavours, from favourites like chocolate and vanilla to rum & raisin, mango and watermelon. You can either choose to have your Gelato served in a plastic cup or on a wafer cone. The Gelato ice cream are made from 100% natural ingredients.Meaning no preservatives, no artificial flavouring, no colouring and no gelatin. The milk based ice cream average 94% fat-free while the water based ice cream is 99% fat free.My favourite flavours are Crunch and Rum, Mango & Tiramisu. The Ice cream very smooth texture and cooling flavours. Each flavour is rich and sweet besides being icy cold.Recommended who have a sweet tooth. continue reading

The gelato craze that's sweeping the city hasn't spared Pavilion. These chilly, creamy confections are surprisingly good here, particularly several alcohol-laced flavours that come in various preparations, including teppanyaki-style. A double whammy of tiramisu & zabaione gelati. Soft, smooth and not too sweet. Waffle topped with rum gelato. The taste of booze is subtle, but definitely there. Croissant stuffed with Cointreau orange gelato. A creatively different way of enjoying croissants. Portions here are pretty generous too. Green tea ice cream cake. Looked unappetizing, but tasted terrifically milky. Crepe topped with rum & raisin gelato. Even though gelato is their focus, all their pastries are impeccably prepared too. continue reading
