I was trying to find Riverview Seafood Restaurant in Kuala Selangor for lunch but could not find it. Then I went to Kuan Hwa and almost eat there but the lobsters are expensive at RM 180 per kilo. So I gave up and drove out trying my best looking for Riverview but failed. On hindsight, I discovered that Kuan Hwa is actually famous for lobsters. So finally I ate at Hai Ung that is next to Kuan Hwa. The place is quite clean and there were already a few patrons there. We ordered dad's favourite kerang (RM 8.48) which is quite tasty. The good thing is that they have properly cleaned it well and there wasn't dirt inside unlike the ones in the stalls. There was no blood or sand too. Or course, I could not resist ordering the odd shaped shells (RM 10.60) that was so tasty. They have also thoroughly cleaned this one which made the eating experience safe. The Fried Oyster Omelette in Sizzling Plate (RM 19.06) was amazing. The oysters were large and fresh. The egg was a little runny just the way I like them. I am very fussy when it comes to fried oysters because it is something that Penang is well known for, and this, I definitely give the thumbs up. One cannot feel the cornflour overload which is great news to me! The Fried Tang Hoon (Glass Noodles) at RM 10.60 with chicken meat, fishcakes and cabbages was quite tasty and the best thing is that it was not overly oily like how most places do it. We even kept it for breakfast the next day as we were too full by then. The Deep Fried Har Kor (Mantis Prawns) at RM 16.96 cooked with black sauce and dried chillies, onions, carrots and green peppers were amazing. The entire prawns were smoothly coated with the sauce. It was the best I have had so far. It was a wonderful ambience to eat seafood facing the Sg Selangor. The wooden floors are also smooth and neat and not like some other places where it is rickety. The overall price of RM 76.30 after GST was so reasonable. In Batu Maung Penang or even in Selangor, most of these seashells food would have cost at least more than RM 15 per plate. Definitely THE PLACE to eat these crustaceans. I am definitely making a comeback with more people if possible.  continue reading

Steam flower crab @ RM42.00I had quite high expectation on the crab since we are dining in a seafood restaurant just right beside the river. The crabs came out to be so skinny and small. They are not meaty at all. There are 4 crabs in total and only 2 of it is sweet, the rest are quite tasteless and the meat is too soft. I was so disappointed and luckily i comfort myself by eating the thin layer of egg white at the bottom with little seafood soup with it. continue reading
