Had the sweet potato leaves,  steamed Assam fish, minced meat fried tofu. Pretty overpriced place for a simple light dinner.Dishes were quite unflavourful. The fish didn't have much assam flavours and the rest was just decent. Fish was not piping hot. The food quality has definitely gone down. continue reading

continue reading

Last weekend was thinking where to have a dinner and my friend suggested to hunt for food in Taman Connaught. We got attracted by the bright colour of this Gui Lin restaurant so decided to have a try since there's quite number of people eating there too.It was our first time so we don't know what to order, we asked for suggestion by one of their lady worker there and she suggested this 'Crispy skin chicken' (cui pei gei in cantonese), their homemade Tofu(jiu pai tau fu) , 3 style asam seafood seafood(lala, sotong, prawn and petai) and also a plate of shu mui vege. The Crispy skin chicken turns out very good, the skin is indeed very crispy , its topped with prawn crackers and a plate of chilli sauce to dip in, on the side of the dish, they made a sliced chicken in some sour sauce is very appetiting side dish. The homemade tofu is very smooth and teh sauce is in brown colour with mushroom and beans. The 3 asam seafood is very good as well and mix with rice. Lastly, the vege comes in a very generous amount and fresh too.We spent RM101 for 4 person. continue reading

I have been visiting this place with my boyfriend and his brother many times before I noticed that they are Gold Medalists in several food competitions! No wonder their food always tastes so good!Anyhow, since it is always the three of us when we come here for dinner, we kind of order the same things each time.. with slight variations depending on availability! Hehe..First of all, our all time favourite "Tie Pan Tofu" (hotplate tofu)Which will still be sizzling hot when they bring it to the table for you.. We love it because the tofu and egg is always cooked to perfection (not over or undercooked) and the gravy is simply bursting with taste! Gui Lin is always generous with their portions and the gravy is enough for everyone.Next will be the vegetable dish. Our favourite "Fan Shu Ye" (sweet potato leaves) was out of stock so we ordered the "Yau Mak" (a variation of Romaine lettuce) instead.. Vegetables are fresh and green, and we like it simple so we only ask for it to be stir-fried with garlic but if you like it to be more elaborate with added stuff, feel free to ask for their recommendations! Nonetheless, this simple dish is tasty enough to satisfy our taste buds as well as to please our conscience that we are having a balanced diet! Hehe..Last but not least, the famous "Marmite Chicken"!The chicken pieces are cut into small bites so that its easy to eat and also to ensure that the sauce coats as much surface area as possible while cooking and as a result, you will get a plate full of juicy chicken pieces nicely drenched in thick Marmite sauce... YUM!These three dishes accompanied with white rice is enough to fill the bellies of three young adults and the bill comes up to about RM30++ only! continue reading
