Reminiscing childhood junk food when the ice cream man would come with the bell in his hand on a bike and children would run and follow Mr. Ice Cream man till it finally stops at one of the houses. That ice cream on tiny bun has always been my favourite. And I also recall that there aren’t many flavours then. There is the popular vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry and if fortunate, sometimes durian or corn as well. Branded and made famous by the Japanese once again, Ice Cornet has brought back much memories and taken the crowd to complete madness with the sensational taste and experience of an impact of hot meeting cold.Having done it in such smart and innovative manner, I must give credit to the Japanese who once again proven their delicate passion with very little things the culture of snack. The cone bread is shaped somewhat so similar to a croissant but textured like any regular bread. the cone bread would first of all being deep fried in hot oil very quickly just to achieve the great crispy texture on the outside of the bread.Next, the cone would then be filled with this creamy soft ice cream or 98% premium fat free frozen yogurt ice cream of your choice. Now the ice cream is amazing and if I can honestly say this, the cone is quite huge for after meal dessert. I can hardly finish one all by myself. One little thing I am a little particular would be the oil for those bread. Judging by the colour of the oil, I’d say it’s probably been use over and over and over and over and over and *inhales* over again. At the same time I thought the concept was brilliant for merchants, for those customers walk in and purchase and then walk out happily with their desired flavour. continue reading

The decoration of the shop itself is very lovely! However, the shop is very very very very small which is able to fit less than 10 people..Normally the seats are not occupied so I get to sit down and enjoy the ice-cream..Here's all the flavours available. Can't say there's much choices but they've got all the popular choices. If you were to choose the "premium" flavour, it's cost RM9.90 instead of RM8.90 which is for the normal flavour.Just depends of which flavour you like actually..*Hint* They will let you try the ice-cream before place your order so... TRY THEM ALL!They store the bread in this huge fridge.. Quite a lot so maybe not so fresh ady..Since they're going to deep fry it so it's okay Look at the ice-cream!It's smooth and creamy. Taste a bit yogurt-like and bit sour for this strawberry flavour..The bread is super crispy and when I eat both the bread with ice-cream, taste exactly like you put the ice-cream on top of gardenia bread LOLTo me, RM8.90 for this is a lil pricey, can have it once a while when you're craving for fried ice-cream?! continue reading

A day before I departed to Genting Highlands with Don for a short getaway, we went all the way to Sunway Pyramid to hunt films for my camera that is yet to be shown to everyone. As soon as we arrived at the mall, I remember telling Don that I will diet to lose weight after consuming huge amount of food within three months. However, half way through shopping, we stopped at Cornet for an ice-cream each. There goes my words said previously. Hah!Apparently, that's how the process goes. Pick your most preferred flavor, choose between agepan and cup, pay for your dessert, and that's it. For your information, agepan is literally bun shaped like a cone, and deep fried with boiling oil upon ordering to form a crispy outer layer for better taste between hot and cold. I didn't like the idea though, because our agepan had rather strange taste, probably due to the oil used repeatedly.Still, I can't deny the fact that serving an ice-cream in such a way helps to provide convenience to the customers, allowing them to eat while they walk around the mall. You're of course allowed to try the different flavors of ice-cream they have to offer. I chose Espresso and Don selected his favorite Coconut. Personally, the Espresso tasted just like any other coffee-based ice-cream that was a little too sweet for my liking. With such quality, it could have cost so much lesser than the amount we paid. Conversely, the Coconut was awesome, to the extent that I nearly wanted to throw mine into the dustbin and snatch his away. If I were to visit the same place again, which is quite unlikely that I ever would, I am sure I will not opt for agepan anymore. It tasted weird, and it’s extremely oily. It's a bread or a bun that didn't taste like one. Would I ever go for their ice-cream again? Hm, let's see.My Blog: http://jcheerios.blogspot.com/2013/04/favorites-ice-cream-agepan-from-cornet.html continue reading
