This inconspicuous enterprise opened this year in the thick of Sungei Wang Plaza's third-floor Food Emporium, run by a family from Malacca.Staples of my southern hometown's most cherished traditional cooking are accounted for here, from Nyonya claypot chicken pongteh ...Mutton curry seku. Feels like honest, home-cooked fare, suitable for two light eaters.Pineapple prawn curry, a Eurasian favorite that's a real pleasure with steamed rice.Portuguese grilled fish, stingray enveloped in a sambal of kaffir lime leaves, all at food-court-appropriate prices of little more than RM10 per serving.Other fowl options: the can't-fail devil's chicken curry that's punishingly/pleasurably fierythe lightly sour ambiler kacang of long beans with chickensehbak, a spicy braised chicken salad with lots of lettuce.chuan-chuan fish, deep-fried & simmered in black bean paste with ginger.Have always adored sambal belacan. The stall at Sungai Wang Plaza is not easy to locate, however, by the address is good to find. A simple wantan noodle is a nice lunch. The noodle is very springy and dry, that makes it nice, The spices and soy sauce is well mixed, not too salty. THe char siew however could be little more thin and is just Okay. Fried wonton is nice, and crunchy. Service is fine as not many people and they serve well. continue reading
